I think we need to go O-line and get our QB next year...but I understand the rationale of grabbing Pickett if he's there at #6 and we're unable to move down to pick up extra picks.

I only saw Pickett play in the ACC title game. I thought he looked fine. I wouldn't write off the season if we picked him. I think he'd have a good chance, as pointed out, of taking the starting job by seasons end. The new offensive coaches alone will make us better from Day 1.

PS--I still think even Darnold has room to improve with a better O-line and an experienced OC calling plays. He has a low ceiling but I don't think he's as bad as looked in 2021. In all honesty, no one on our team looked that good last year. We need 2022 to be a do-over for everyone from the GM, HC, and the players on the roster.

Yeah, which was.....better. 

Here is a fact, Rivera's all time coaching record: 0.523(0.546 in CAR)

Matt Rhule: 0.303

 

Wow. That Rhule guy is good. You are right. He is so good he has had the worst two year start for a coach in franchise history(by a substantial margin).

Two seasons. I'm not a Rhule fan, but thinking a guy that's sucked two seasons in a row to start his tenure, is worse than a guy that has sucked 7 out of 10 seasons. Is a bit odd, no? Including last year too for Rivera. I mean, yikes.

and Ron Rivera has never won 5 or fewer games in a full season as HC.  Matt Rhule has never won more than 5.

Ron > Rhule.  That's not a pro Ron statement.  It's just that Matt Rhule is garbage.  If and if you doubt that, just go listen to Rhule. 

Ron is a decent NFL HC.  Matt Rhule is a bad one.  The goal is to land a good HC.

Sadly, I've watched every, single, game the past two years. To think Rivera is better than Rhule is fascinating to me. Both are trash. But thinking one is better than the other? That's some interesting poo.

      Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.

      I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce

      Yea Bryce was definitely a top half qb the second half of last season but I'm not sure Canales is 100% sold on him.  Like I've said in another post I think that's part of why we talked to so many South Carolina players in the draft process.  I think they are doing early due diligence on Sellers just in case.
