definitely looks like he could be a steal. not necessarily a starter, but as a guy who can be put in to give guys a breather or fill in due to injuries he could be a key cog. we've been needing a Geoff Hangartner guy who can do it all. hopefully Mays is that.

Hang'man reference.

He was always one of my favorites to watch in training camp because you never knew when he was going to be getting into a fight. you could count on at least one each year.

but on the OL, you knew he wasn't going to be a starter, but you also knew that as long as he was there, if there was an injury on the OL that he'd be able to step in and do well. Didn't matter what position, really. He could play them all.

Yeah the depth swing lineman is huge.  And honestly, that may also be what Brady C could thrive at if LG doesn't stick this year as a long term solution with him.

Brady, Cade, & Deonte seem like totally viable depth guys that have the chance to develop into starters (Brady C sooner than late).  Also, having both Bozeman with Elf as emergency C helps not needing to bring that random Temple guy back on the field.

LT: Ekwonu (Brady, Erving)

LG: Brady (Elf, Mays)

Center: Bozeman (Elf)

RG: Corbett (Deonte, Mays)

RT: Moton (Erving)

Think we'll need to target another OL next year to develop as we phase Elf and Erving off the team but it's shaping up for us to actually be ahead of the curve and not trying to fill starting spots with lackluster talent anymore.

Hello Andrew Norwell....I hope.

Looks to me, after watching a bit of him, that he's just stiff...not a fluid athlete....but has bulk and strength.  I'm digging it.  Maybe he can compete for a starters role at a guard spot next season.

I still think people are way to high on Brown. I know we could have played BC more but he was actually in on 42% of the offensive snaps. He played a significant amount and only Moton at 100% played more than 61% of the snaps so BC was right next to all of the non-Moton OL in playing time. Brown played 2.6% of the snaps which is in the he’s not really ready to play in the NFL yet type snap counts versus the hey we haven’t committed to this guy being our full time starter.

After reading the Mays hype, I wouldn’t be shocked at all if he somehow leapfrogged BC for starting G. His experience (23, 4 year starter), larger mass and background (SEC/5-star) had some potential. BC was never, ever discussed as a potential first rounder and while that didn’t happen for Mays and they are obviously not always accurate, he had to have done well to get on that list.

I agree with Brown.  He's got a ways to go, truly a developmental OL at this point unless we really need to throw him out there.  He should have been checked out at the end of last season, but there's clearly a reason he wasn't to the level at which we tested Brady C.

Mays seems way more ready and has his weight in check.  And being a 5-star, UGA starter that transferred to be close to home, and opted for the NFL to make money sooner, seems like he's really trying to do something and get a great career under him.  I'm actually pretty excited about him.

6'5 312, 34 arms, 10 hands, big big man.  Meets the size reqs you want to see.

Shoot higher. Hopefully, Mays is a Norwell, legit starter at guard.

I'm hoping that between BC and Corbett we may have found the OGs who will have us set there for years, but really i'd be happy with any combo that will have us set with starters long term and secure with depth that can be counted on.

It was good to have him.  Same with Wharton.

Still wouldn’t shock me that Mays jumps BC as a guard. BC isn’t that prototypical road grader guard. I know we said he was a round 2 guard, round 3 tackle but it didn’t seem like he excelled at G last year (beat out Miller?) so I could see him being the swing tackle if another G blows out training camp. Honestly, based on pure potential, it would be best for us if Mays wins a starting G job because his 5-star/way too early draft hype seems to put his ceiling way higher  a la Norwell. 1st team all pro is high ceiling In the NFL.

i'm just happy to have options and a good OL coach and a good OC.
