Why is PJ Walker EVEN on the team?

Either PJ is going to be moved from QB to some other position and serve on special teams, traded or outright cut. There's zero reason to give him so much time today unless they're trying to shop him and wanted tape to show something current.

He's taking reps away from the other 3. Him being here at QB directly hurts the team.

PJ is MILES ahead of Corral and it showed. People really need to drop the delusions with MC. Hating on PJ is popular around here, but the guy has literally proven he can win games as a backup. But no,  “muh Corral is getting reps stolen from him”

Kinda hard to get better as an NFL rookie when your dumbsh-t coach doesn't give you any practice time.

And if you wanna talk "real", PJ isn't gonna be on the regular season roster. Corral is.

More snaps totally would have totally altered Corral's career projection.. today proved what a lot of us knew.  He is in over his head right now and it is going to take time more than just reps for him to get over that.  The coaches helped him if anything by not throwing him out there longer.   He needs more time to cook before hes ready, so to speak.

I don’t disagree about the coach being stupid, but has proven to be a worthy backup. People here treat him like Armanti Edwards. And for the record, I do believe Corral should get more opportunities. PJ deserves to put game tape out there just as much as these other guys trying to make a roster.

Would probably help at least a little bit if the coach would have him...you know practice 😖

Said it a couple times already but it bears repeating: Rhule is handling Corral as if he were a college freshman rather than an NFL rookie.

Again, he's proving rather conclusively that he's not an NFL coach.

Hate to tell ya, but it's actually not the Carolina Panthers responsibility to make sure PJ Walker has a job.

It is however kind of important that they develop that guy they spent a draft pick on and talked up as a quarterback of the future.

Yet with those two things in mind, guess which task Matt Rhule is putting a higher priority on?

    • Night and day difference in the front office investements.  Since Morgan has been in the FO (5 years)....4 out of 5 first round picks have been offensive players.  The one defensive pick was a corner. Expand it out to the first 2 rounds? 7 out of the 9 picks have been offensive.  That IMO is why our D sucks so bad.   You build defenses up front.   Carolina hasn't been investing there.  Ron's first 5 years? 3 of the 5 first round picks were defensive players.  Expand it all to include second rounders  7 of the 10 picks were defensive.  All front 7 players.
    • I think he gets this year to show what he can do.  Last year, we had a lot of injuries. This year, we should have some players, even if we lose one or two.  It's the first preseason game.  Some of the starters weren't even in it.  There is no scheming or game planning.  Let's see how guys do when it counts. I think we have a GM that knows a thing or two about defense.  Let it play out.
    • I was ok with the mentor aspect of keeping Dalton, but wow has he fallen off the deep end. The slow behind the WR interception was awful. I keep hearing our WRs created no separation, but on that particular play dude was wide open and Dalton couldn't get it to him with a clean pocket. Next year, we need to address the backup QB spot haaaaaard!
