Which is why I'm not mad at competition Bs or real..  Atleast ppl seem to be earning play time and not been giving it based on contract or no other viable option..

I’m just not able to equate 2022 Baker with 2021 Darnold.   You seem to be suggesting Rhule is learning.  I just see it as Rhule consistently missing the mark.

In fairness Slye was originally a Rivera guy (and is again) I agree with much of what you are saying in this thread.... I just can't get that Boston hill you chose to die on out of my head *tries to adult*.

I thought Tre Boston was a solid player not great and he was dedicated to the team and the region which i admire as a fan...

I never thought he was a pro bowl player or wasn't replaceable if we got a better player..

I mean, you can keep singing that song.  I said he was unqualified and we shouldn’t of hired him.  I just won’t stop there and keep the conversation going about who hired him and created the entire mess.  You know, the guy actually still employed here.   Your projection game isn’t strong enough.  Matt Rhule is still sitting here.  Can’t avoid him no matter how hard you try.

I have explicitly said Rhule sucks and Joe Brady sucks and your Brady-colored glasses translated that into me loving Rhule and being unfair to Brady. But nice try. I like how all of a sudden you don’t have a problem with the “Brady and Rhule both suck” stance because Linville said it. Talk about spineless…go ahead and call him a Rhule lover for acknowledging that they both suck lol I know that triggered you.

Got you.. But Reality is Baker came in late with baggage and little compensation.. Not much better then Sam situation.. Also question Mark's about his injury concerns and leadership concerns.. Having him earn it IMO isn't hurting the situation and might make him better..

Finally let's be real Baker didn't have many fans in the locker room.. Which might have change with him actually beating out Darnold.. On and off the field..

I "hope" Rhule is learning and I Choose to be more optimistic about the things I see as change..

I'm not convinced either way but I can Atleast see some of the offseason moves as positive past my distrust of Rhule as a HC..

The takeaway is that Tepper likely convinced Rhule to hire shiny  object Brady. He was originally interviewing McAdoo. He said he went out of his comfort zone. It failed. Brady has a mind for play design but no experience with the rest of the job or player interaction. Rhule had to step in  and babysit him. This was talked about by Moore and Steve Smith.

One day he may be great. He wasn't ready.

Huddle good ole boy version:

Yada Yada Yada Rhule sucks derp derp blah blah

We were originally interviewing Caldwell for the OC role and assistant HC. Ended up with Brady. Also, McAdoo and Sean Ryan were finalist for the QB coach job and we went with Sean Ryan.

I mean, you can find tons of old post where I clearly said I had no problem with Brady being fired and more specifically how he should of never been hired.  That a Joe Brady experiment only would have been a worthy gamble for a very specifically built org.

I just include Rhule in the conversation.  And you can’t handle that.

LG is smart enough to know my post calling him a Rhule lover wasn’t serious.  It was a joke/nonsense post because clearly saying both sucked and were part of the problem is a fair thing to say.

Last I've checked, a Joe Burrow type QB isn't walking through those doors anytime soon. Zac taylor is riding the coattails of his elite QB, just like Ron did with Cam. And Burrow will be wasted just like Cam was.

Sure. However, were you saying this exact same statemetn prior to last year when Burrow was coming off of an ACL tear and the bengals were signing players like Eli Apple and drafting WRs while having the worst oline in the league?

I mean a positive is Baker is better than Sam or Teddy.

a positive is McAdoo at least understands how to go about NFL offense.  Not just playcalling but just preparing.  Which Brady and Rhule had no clue about.  I don’t think McAdoo is very good add but there are positives to him vs where we were.

I’ve said I do think overall this will be the best O we have had once Baker is made the guy.  But I think the D steps back.  Not bad but more of an in-between 20 and 21 type D.

So where does that put us? I still don’t think we are well coached at the top.  Which I think keeps us right below .500.  I just don’t see the point of Rhule because it is just steadily wishing he stays out of the way to a great extent.   And that’s not a NFL HC.

Valid opinion.. Reasonable assumption all of it..

I choose to believe Rhule maybe a better delegator and Motivator then a Micromanager with a expertise in 1 side of the ball.. Hopefully he thrives with letting his coordinator coach and have more trust in his staff experience..

I choose to be optimistic about the offense Atleast being able to thrive under consistent and experienceand  play calling with 2nd half adjustments and better game plans.. Also being way more adaptable to situational football...

I choose to believe that while we might take a step back on pass rush .. Wilkes and the secondary will be a strength and carry the defense as a whole.. Also that the run defense will be better with Pasqulonie technic training and old school coaching style for the Dline and front 7.. So we might take a step back but I don't think we'll fall out of the top 10.. Especially with consistent offensive play..

Overall I choose to be optimistic until proven wrong.. Then I'll be back to fire everybody and start over mode..

    • We have seen Bryce get outplayed by all manner of QBs, from UDFAs to second round picks.  If we actually scouted any QBs it would not be a difficult task to upgrade from Bryce, you guys act like he is even decent. He is one of the worst starters league wide stop making excuses.
    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
