Rhule was out there today acknowledging chemistry issues.  We keep seeing botched Baker snaps under C.

I mean, yeah, Baker goes quick.  All our Cs need as much time with out new starter as possible to get it down.  Instead we had Sam taking starter reps

20 days until opening day. Im sure they can iron out snap timings in that window. You guys are seriously blowing up this competition WAAAAAY more than it ever needed to.

If there are people on the team that like Darnold and respect him you owe it to those guys to give Darnold a fighting chance to win or lose. Baker has to come in and win over the locker room or the team is divided. You guys wanna zero in on snap counts and 1st vs 2nd string reps but the battle was for everyone to buy in and be on the same page. Whether you personally think Baker is better or not is irrelevant to whether the actual players in the locker room think it. Those are the minds that count.

Yeah I'm sure the team loved seeing Sam throw a backbreaking pick six at home against the Patriots and then walking back to the bench like he couldn't wait to leave the stadium. Very kind of you to speak up for him.

Why does liking Sam the human mean he is owed a competition? PJ is a nice dude probably.  Where is his fair competition?

Everyone watched Sam play last year.  And all the years prior.    You know Baker is better than Sam.  I know it.  The team knows it.

i mean some of it is just busting Rhule’s balls because he exists at this point.  But he has a lot to do with why that is happening.  That’s life. He took the paycheck and that is business.

Idk if youve ever played organized sports or maybe you are 5 decades removed from how locker room dynamics work but the incumbent deserves the respect to atleast fight for the job.

You know how you can tell stuff like this matters to players? Look at how Aaron Rodgers, Brett Farve, Tom Brady, etc acted when their teams draft a QB high and dont tell them or give them heads up about it. They are pissed. They dont help develop the new guy to have him take their job. Rodgers was ready to leave GB after winning MVP because they drafted Jordan Love. You think the team would have been ok with them giving Love the job after he was drafted.

The point is that vets are owed respect and you dont just hand the new guy the job even if you know hes better. Its the new guys responsibility to leave no doubt and bring the team to him. If you cant understand that then thats on you.

Save your gifs. Nobody on this team was going to lose any sleep over the possible perception of Sam Darnold being passed over. He brings new meaning to the word awful. Even Cam Newton with the arm of a 50 year old brought more life to the Panthers. Baker was the guy the moment the ink was dry.

This is the NFL though.  It’s paid professional sports.   It’s not the business of being fair.

Sam Darnold wasn’t owed anything following 4 years of being a trainwreck with 2021 being the worst of it all.

Sam Darnold got a competition because he is the highest cap hit on the roster and a mistake made by our front office, not out of “fairness” IMO. I don’t think it at all equates to Rodgers being pissed about Love.  GB wasted assets that could of gone to help Rodgers.

in a fair world Sam would be competing with PJ for the backup gig.  But that’s not the NFL.   Sam’s bad contract matters .

You don't have a point. You're dragging hall of fame quarterbacks into this to argue semantics about respecting vets like anyone looks at Sam Darnold and sees a winner instead of a Milquetoast panicker who was the worst QB in the league from a clean pocket and was outdueled by Daniel f*cking Jones. Give it up.

You dont understand how this game works if you think just because people are being paid that respect isnt an integral part of 1) team building/cohesion 2) how grown men conduct themselves.

You dont value respect and treating people with respect. Cool but obviously NFL locker rooms disagree with you or else you would constantly see this happen.

If Rhule just gave Baker the job before he ever took a snap here or laced up his cleets it would tear the locker room in two factions. Thats a surefire way to lose the locker room and have the team implode.

Again if you cant understand that then thats on you.

Just because you arent smart enough and a reasonable enough person to have a conversation like an adult doesnt mean there isnt a point here. Regardless of skill level you cant tell me Sam isnt a well liked guy on the team. Players may agree that he sucks. Im not arguing that Sam is a good QB. Im arguing that he is well liked in the locker room and apart of getting everyone on the team on the same page is them all being in agreement with who the leader of the team will be.

You probably dont understand these things though cause i doubt many people like being around you but this is how team building works.

Your insults are cute. Who cares if he's liked or not? All of these guys value their careers and their longevity more than anything and if he's a hindrance to their progress nobody is going to bat an eye if he's out as the starter. It's a business. Remember that? All of these things go for Baker Mayfield too. Or did you already forget how he left Cleveland? And he actually brought the Browns their first playoff win in 26 years.

Dude it's not worth it.. Locker room politics is non existent variable here..

Especially when things don't work the way some ppl here think they should work.. And even this changes depending the level of like and trust in said player or coach.. So reasoning for anything is a changing target on a person to person basis.. At the end ppl make up their own narrative and all you can do is agree to disagree..

    • To start with, you wouldn’t want to count up that value chart. You would see quickly where that is headed. But you basically did a quantity comparison, while ignoring quality.  I am looking at 2023 as the start, because it became all about Bryce.  2023 you have 4 picks plus DJ Moore for offense vs 2 (80 and 145) for defense.  2024 you got the 1st overall, the 32, the 46 and the 101 for offense vs 72, 157, 200 and 240 for defense. Leave the FA IOL out of it. Which was a crazy big  investment. But it wasn’t draft.  Anyway, that is basically 4 top 100 picks for offense and 4 picks for defense in 2024. Except they were 2 first rounders, the second rounder, and the 4th was really high at 101. Vs 72 and day three stuff. Please….  Second quoted/bolded… See you think we hate Bryce. That isn’t it at all. It is nice easy way to characterize us and discredit our talking points though.   Me, I do mostly hate watching him play. But I don’t hate the person. I hate the hell out of the stanning.  It started with the very first question I asked about his footwork, arm strength, and size. Height being the principle objection. I never even got to the durability factor. There was plenty without factoring that in.  But there was rabid opposition to even asking the question of what a couple of small fractions of a second extra closing time would do for the defenders.  What the extra time it takes to flip the hips would do vs a pass rush or on the other end after the ball is in the air. Split second more for recognition where it is going for the DBs.  The tippy toe backpedal.  That poo was a mess and it has always been mess but no Bryce fan wanted to hear it. “Go get another team to root for”. “It worked in the SEC it will be fine in the NFL you don’t know football you are just a hater”.  It got worse when the real games started. It has never stopped. It is nice that many people have left that train so there is less abuse but it hasn’t stopped.  So whatever…
    • Whatever school you attended, I don't know and I don't care, but I would suggest demanding a refund.    Something was completely missed there.
    • The draft capital since since 2023 has in no way been pretty even.  Especially when you zero in on day 1 and day 2 draft picks.  Draft capital has vastly gone toward the O over D.
