Drafting best lineman is always a good consideration, especially when the qb situation doesnt offer you that franchise player you need.Building a great line improves the whole offense. Thats not fireable or debatable.

All the best young QBs currently in the league had warts. Herbert played in a one read offense and wasn't trusted to throw in clutch situations.  Allen couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. Mahomes played in a gimmick offense that inflates stats. Burrow was old and a one year wonder.

There's no such thing as knowing for sure how a prospect will turn out.

Its called iffy ..the lineman pick is pretty much guaranteed.A much higher pct chance of working out.pretty much guarantee no Allen, Burrow, or Mahomes in this draft. Now 2024 is another story if things continue the way they are going. Building the OLINE for the future is a better choice.

Linemen picks used to be pretty much guaranteed. Far from it these days. Plenty of 1st round OL busts. Hell, two of the more recently drafted top 10 IOL both were drafted in the same year and both busted. Johnathan Cooper and Chance Warmack. #7 and #10 overall. Busts.

2013 not really more recently...but Travis Frederick was also drafted that yr.

I actually pray that they do give Corral a chance. He was the best QB in the last draft. I know a few  teams had him as QB1 and it was more personality off field that helped him slip a bit. Now the injury obviously didn't help or a coaching change but i really want to see him sling it. Depending on coach and coordinator it may not be a good fit. If we fan an offense like the eagles this kid would be lights out.

Really hope we can develop him into a valuable backup.  Unlike Will Grier.

it’s crazy to see people really banking on the idea of him being the franchise guy though.

him developing into a solid backup isn’t a bad thing though.  Teams today have been having to use backups when it’s crucial.

Eagles win a Super Bowl because they had a solid backup and win you a handful of games when needed.

This year.

SF, Baltimore, Buffalo, Tennessee, Philly, Dallas, Dolphins, just to name a few.

BTW

this is from Joe Person this morning

Damn Washington is rolling with Howell next year. We could have had him with our 5th round pick… hindsight right?

He looked pretty decent in Camp and had a real nice last game.

but the big thing. Drafting 16th, they’re just not in position to draft one.
here we have fans saying it’d cost to move up from 9.  Imagine what it’d cost from 16.

Next year unless they improve.  Rivera will be gone.  And a whole new regime change will want to kickstart with their QB.
