How could we not give Fitt another chance?!?

It's hard to know who was in charge of what because Rhule was a micromananger with his hands in everything. There were rumors that some of Rhules power was taken away during the off-season and we appear to have made some better choices. There was no direction in the HC office and that's clearly evident by the way the roster was handled. Hell, Dunlap wanted to come here but Fitts couldn't promise him a starting role because of Rhule's stupid camp competitions. Rhule loved reclamation projects. Notice how many of the trades involved reclamation projects Rhule thought he could fix. You could tell Fitts was done with Rhule at last year's end of season presser.

Rhule and Tepper's GM hire process had a very "thesis - antithesis - synthesis" feeling to it. They each suggested their own candidates than debated between them, in the process knocking out guys who had connections to Rhule (Ireland, Peters, Stewart) and pretty much throwing everybody that Tepper suggested out the window.

Fitterer didn't actually enter the process until later at a time when Rhule and Tepper were looking to expand the list of candidates. He was certainly qualified (he'd had three or four GM interviews prior to that and was well respected around the league) and finally became someone they could agree on.

Not really a fan of either at the guys who picked him but I think this is one of those cases where they might have stumbled on the right answer.

I just can't see Quinn as more than a DC, Dallas would be smart to keep him but then again DCs are a lot easier to find now than a good OC. Trends change. I wonder how McD will do when he loses another OC? Ron had trouble losing DCs in back to back years. (not trying to knock McD but it is a huge challenge and they looked a lot better under their last OC superstar)

Said in the other thread that I think the best hope for Quinn to get a great OC might be if he reaches for someone to whom he doesn't have a prior connection.

The question is how likely that would be to happen.

Blame it on anyone who makes you feel better. But it’s fact that you have blasted and blamed Rhule and Tepper for everything. But Fitterer just happens to be OK because….reasons? 
 

    If he was so well thought of, why did he take a job where he’s judged by someone else’s decisions. He signed the contract. He knew the deal. He might as well have been unemployed. Or he is part of a 6-16 team building that is already over next years cap. So it’s either inexperienced, or incompetent. Neither is a quality anyone looks for in reshaping an entire organization.

Because I have the ability to separate coaching from personnel.

      The thing is, I feel like last Sunday validated what I have been saying about Bryce.  And this is why I'm somewhat optimistic. He isn't a good QB, let me make that clear before the brigade storms into this thread, but the biggest difference between Bryce before last week and Bryce in the second half of last season was his lack of confidence and willingness to make plays downfield.  Last week was the first time this season he's had that "F It" mentality, the same he had when he came back last year when he just looked and played care-free (in a good way; he had a positive energy).  We need him to keep that energy the rest of the season because if he does, we can win games. It ain't always about being good.  Hell Jameis Winston isn't good (better than Bryce, but still), but he plays with such a confidence that his teams always have a chance.   If Bryce is down to be as aggressive as he was last week, I think the opportunities will be there against a weak and injured 49ers defense.

      I don't have a great feeling about this game, but after last night I have a real good feeling about our chances to win the division. I think we might actually have a fair amount of wiggle room if Baker is out for an extended period of time, especially if he misses one or both of the games against us. 9-8 could very well win the NFC South this year. Hell, depending on how long Mayfield is out I wouldn't be shocked to see 8-9 win it.
