Today proved that coaching matters and Sam has had terrible coaching since his rookie year. I don’t think he’s a future franchise guy but I would love to keep him as our back up QB for the right price

Sam Darnold will have these last few games to impress the Panthers brain trust, so his future remaining here is in his own hands.

Omg, not the if Sam Darnold had a good coach he’d be good argument again.

maybe he’s only had bad coaches because good coaches don’t want him

This is total BS. More times than not, the NFL hurts young QBs coming into the league than help. Most of the time they hurt their development beyond repair. You cant with a straight face say Darnold has had the coaching around him to put him in the best position to succeed. Its just simple minded to say he always sucked. Yes right now he isnt a good starting QB. It could be that he never was a good starting QB or he was set up to fail from the start. Since coaching is the biggest factor for a young QB, I would say it is more likely the latter and it would take tremendous coaching right now to repair him, if he even is repairable.

    • I don’t know about floor in a team defense sense but we needed more.  The floor that I am familiar with is our QBs floor and it is so low that every other part of the team needs to be beefed up.     We tried our best to improve these things and I think we did improve the defense and we at least kept the offense  from sinking from no LT.  And ostensibly helped the receivers too.   So we kept a window open that we at least have a chance to improve our record by a game of two.  Which would probably give us the division.

    • Yeah. I am one of. those who think a JAG RB can eat with really good blocking. (Brooks is most important in my mind, in tbe passing game and that is what we’ll lose without him)  There are a lot of aspects to this. The big one that caused us to struggle is Young and his arm scared no one.  Best back, best blocking still cannot defeat a really good defense if they are not forced to respect the pass.  And teams did not.    But, a strong OL and running game Can get us over against weaker defenses.  And if Bryce still doesn’t scare anyone we can still win some games. Like last year  So it is really important to tend to that OL.   Get that straight and see if in his fourth year he can finally back defenses off. That is what if is all about this year to me, on the Bryce front.
