Wilks has bombed on two games that could have kept us going. Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. This game against Tampa will tell all.  One it will almost give us the division and a shot at the playoffs.  If he bombs this one than I think he seals his own fate.

Bowles will also be fighting for his job. I expect a knock down drag out fight.

I don't know how I feel about it. I like Wilks but one of those offensive guru guys seem nice too. The problem is finding one who is a good coordinator but isn't an absolute turd of a head coach like some of the gurus have been. It's not easy finding a Sean Mcvay. Hell I would love a Sean McDermont even. Wasn't he a defensive coach that has turned into a damn good head coach? What if Wilks is a Sean McDermont? How would the need an offensive guy supporters feel about him then? Also, how do we know he isn't necessarily a defensive minded coach like McDermont who becomes a very good head coach with the chance? So may options and so much confusion with me right now. Tough decisions ahead.

I would compare Wilks coaching success to Darnolds recent play at qb.  Take that how you will.  They are both in situations where they arent asked to do too much and they are doint a pretty good job at it.   My question though, is that enough for you?

I said multiple times I doubted he was the answer.  Before the season started i said i wasnt sold he was or wasnt yet.  When the season started with the exact same problems i was plenty vocal about saying he wasnt the answer.   Society today is so bad these days to say if you arent on one extreme then you are automatically on the other and of course the huddle is a microcosm of that.

    • Well, hope they're not worried about a torn Labrum or Rotator Cuff, as someone who went through that myself, I know those don't have anything show up on X-Rays but from the MRI, so this is kinda a nothing update, hope it's not a tear or his season is already over if they decide to do surgery now. Which is basically what would be needed to get him to 100% for the start of next season's training camp if it's a labrum.  If he plays the season with it and then does surgery, he's not going to be ready for camp and probably not the start of the season either.
    • I always try to not pay much attention to a team’s preseason win/loss record. The 1982 Washington and 2021 LA Rams both lost every game in the preseason and went on to win the Super Bowl, whereas the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns both won every game in reason and went on to lose every regular season game. There’s many examples of teams that lose in preseason that go on to have good seasons, but equally there are teams that lose in preseason and that continues in the regular season. Which will we be?  I think our floor is a handful of wins, while our ceiling will probably be around the 9-10 win mark. The latter will require significant improvement from the whole team and coaching staff, and will also need Bryce to play like the QB we drafted him to be. I want to be optimistic and predict a winning season, but it’s really difficult as a Panthers fan!
    • Cos he looks much better?
