Next Offensive and Defensive Coordinator

IDK why everyone acts like Wilks could not put together a quality staff. Dude has been coaching in the league for almost 20 years. He has built his resume learning from 2 different major coaching trees (Lovie & Norv) and is universally respected around the league.

You could point to his staff in AZ in his one year as HC. But, when the dying geriatric owner is a positional coach and the OC is fired a month into the season, it is safe to assume that Wilks didn't have final say over his own staff.

Add in the fact that 2 of his former bosses are on the hot seat this season, and the recent failure of all the wunderkind OCs as head coaches the past few seasons, and the talent pool that Wilks has access to this offseason will be deep.

I'm not necessarily sold on Wilks as HC next season. However, I don't believe he would have any trouble filling out a quality staff of coaches.

I think Holcomb sticks around, but I hope we can find someone better at DC and move him to a different role. McAdoo may stick around if we make the playoffs, but wouldn't mind an upgrade there. I hope we keep Campen and Tabor and make upgrades everywhere else we can. Need Tepper to shell out the money for better coaches.

People here seem to assume that Wilks would just get new coordinators. I'll believe it when I see it.

They've "turned it around" as a unit, so  I just don't see him axing the guys that helped him get the job.

Yup.  Besides, what OC or DC is looking for a lateral move to the Panthers?  We'd be looking at cast offs, or inexpereienced unknowns who are part of good programs.

If Wilks wins the job, I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps the the coordinators.

If Wilks wins the job, who is your best guess Wilk's DC and OC will be next year?

good stuff stump. Thats one of my biggest issues with wilks the unknown coaching hires and Im not a holcomb DC fan, no issue if hes on the LB group......but that will not happen.

Ive been saying it for months, but only campy and tabor should stay. Every single other, thanks for the 2022 efforts given the wild ride.

Plus this has been brought up, lets say he lands some hot OC....so whats the plan when that OC leaves the following year??

Finally some are calling this lazy, but he is another in the long list of fox/rivera clones. Personally Ive the show enough and ready for a fresh option.

Holcomb isn't going anywhere, unless Wilks much different than I expect.  Which I think is a mistake, but...

As to OC, depends, I think McAdoo has a very good chance at being retained if that's what he wants.

Holcomb was a Rhule hire...

Yes, he has a long history working with Wilks. But, he was here for 2 years before Wilks was rehired this past offseason.

Everybody is assuming what Wilks would do with very little information to go off of.

And he was an assistant in CLE while Wilks was OC. Then Rhule hired Holcomb in 2020 while Wilks went to the college ranks. They are not tied at the hip...

I think its petty clear if wilks remains HC, so will Al as DC. They are friends form what I hear.

I think it's fair to wager that Wilks would keep him on staff in some capacity. I don't think he would necessarily be handed the DC position, though.

Wilks has been working his entire life towards the goal of becoming a successful NFL HC. He has been around the league long enough to see how the game works. He has also had the chance to learn from the mistakes he made putting together his first staff.

    • I want the conversations at season's end to be more about what else we need to build onto the foundation to be playoff contenders and less about the fultility of drafting yet another QB and hiring yet another coach because as long as Tepper is the owner, it doesn't matter what this team does.
    • yeah I was hoping  that we stayed put & drafted Levis at #9  i even said on here after we foolishly traded up for Bryce Young that I would not be surprised whatsoever if the Bears were picking #1 overall with our pick this year but what ...just saying
