The biggest issue with Jarvis is he’s barely 20 years old. He is playing on the 1st line against grown ass men and getting bullied. If he played on the 3rd or 4th line, he would be way more productive. Still, he does some good things. Once he puts on some muscle mass in the next 2 years, he’s going to be a very good player.

Why would we trade our points leader, dunno who was floating that idea but for real. We need someone to replace Max. Not take anything away from our roster otherwise.

We should wait until the deadline and see how much of Kane we can get Chicago to retain. His contract is up after this year and it’s obvious he wants out. I’d be fine fronting them drury even if it hurts us in the long run.

Scrolling isnt that hard. Bo has more points than Necas, only 3 years older and would solidify the 2nd line center. Also, why limited to just 1 trade? If thats all Vancouver wants, I like it as long as there is going to be another trade in the works.

I honestly don’t want to trade Jarvis either. I think we’ll see a Necas like jump from him next year.

Jarvis is in his sophomore slump.

Jarvis is in a slump. Like necas last year and Svetch the year before. No way we trade him. He plays Rod Hockey perfectly.

Drury and next years first.

I would only entertain moving Jarvis if we have assurances that Bo would sign a new deal here, not for a rental.

I love Jarvis, but Bo is not your typical playoff push mercenary. I know I wasn't the only one salivating last year when the Preds started to shop Forsberg before they turned their season around.

If we just want a sale-sword to replace Max for the playoffs, we can get Kane or Toews from Chitown for peanuts and not even have to pay for postage bc whatever AHL guys we send over will be playing on the big boy club across town, considering the shape of their roster.

Bo on a long term deal would set us up nicely to maintain our championship window past the inevitable eventual Staallessness...

Per Pierre LeBrun as well as other pundits, the Canes have interest in Meier and see him as a long-term fit in Carolina.

Quite a few teams will probably be scared off due to Meier’s QO next year, Carolina doesn’t appear to be one of them.

I think a first, future second, and any prospect not named Morrow or Nikishin should get it done.

Meier currently sits in 10th place in the NHL with 28 goals, 12 of those came on the PP which is good enough for 8th in the NHL.

(" I think a first, future second, and any prospect not named Morrow or Nikishin should get it done. ") That sounds reasonable!

And he’s young. Less risk of production reduction. NJD is reportedly very interested as well so could be gamesmanship to drive up the asking price. NJ is going to be a pest for the next decade.

Bo's getting cheaper...

The article starts with acknowledging that Necas is untouchable.

But, basically Vancouver's counter offer after desperately trying to get Donny Wads back on the phone is...

If the Canucks allow Carolina to negotiate an extension with Horvat, they can get a great return. It’s unlikely they’ll be able to add both Jarvis and Morrow. Therefore, trading for one of them, along with Kotkaniemi and Carolina’s 2023 first-round pick would be a great return.

Some Vancouver beat writer

I‘m just not on board with trading Jarvis. He could have a Necas-esque turnaround next season. Don’t want to lose Morrow either. He is a cup-window extending prospect. I prefer Meier as I think he’s cheaper and a Rod type of player.

    • AT got what he deserved. Be gone and enjoy those 4 catches and the bench and your pay cut
    • we have been bad offensively basically every game Rico Dowdle hasn't gone full Tecmo Bowl Bo Jackson on folks.
    • Strongly disagree with the premise here. Without getting too into it, the biggest gripe for many has always been his footwork and pocket presence.  Shallow drops, happy feet, bad awareness - his overall technique is highly unconventional and not beneficial to his size/frame.  His upper body gets mad out of sync with his lower, drops back parallel to the LOS, erratic behavior. When you take that to the NFL level, you get swallowed up. And he got shellshocked and started bailing way too soon on plays. Unnecessary throwaways when he should step UP into the pocket and hit.   He got away with it in school because sooo much of his work was out of structure or quick hits to Jamo.  He was able to not bail early and stick in the pocket this last game. He also was dropping deeper than he usually does to create sight lanes. He can’t really outrun DLs so he needs to create that space via drop to survey properly. When he does these bs skip hops in the gun, he barely drops and is flooded. He needs to stay active with his feet but learn to step into the pocket more.  His average arm when he’s not doing this right turns Pennington esque.
