Didnt they sign him last year? This is getting vastly over-looked, i believe it adds 35 million more to the dead cap.

Another lane it may only add 20 million, which puts red numbers on the table.

But HORAY.....1st overall pick, right?!?!?

This needs to be confirmed.

I think we just eat the signing bonus

I don't think that can be right

If it is it's not likely all in one year

That would be worse if it's spread out to multiple years as it then completely negates the advantage of having a QB on a rookie deal.

Need to hope the hit is all in the first year or else it makes the trade even dumber than it already is.

So that is what the getting the space(motwon, wilson, wood) was for.....NOT boze....

How do you feel about the trade?

No. DJ was scheduled to have a 24M Cap hit so they gained almost 10M in cap space. No need to make room.

Gotta try something. And the cost wasn’t bad. QB roulette sucks. And they are going to have to hit on whatever plan there is for skill positions. But overall, I would have done it and it is big deal to have it done this early.

    • Good read and stuff under it is not bad either. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/article/panthers-cb-jaycee-horn-says-184519429.html
    • While I'd love to add him, it just doesn't make sense for where we are at in our re-build right now. The only teams who should be interested are those who have a very legitimate shot at winning the SB this season, as any team who makes the trade is going to be mortgaging their future to make the move. Teams who make these kinds of trades and then give them the massive contract, in the hopes that it will expedite their path to contention, ALWAYS ends up backfiring because they have to give up the 1st round picks that are then needed to help build out the rest of the roster after eating up such a significant chunk of the cap on the new contract. There is no way the Cowboys trade him for anything less than 2 future 1st rounders (and probably more), plus we'll have to make him the highest paid non QB in league history.  Not to mention that it would then have made the Scourton and/or Princely picks a bit of a waste, as those 2nd and 3rd round picks would have been better off used on a ILB or DB
    • Like his approach to pre season that's ro get them out there and play together for a few plays and right about the night before and morning before.  Maybe we can come out the gate on fire I can smell the smoke from here!!   Go Panthers
