Riddle me this?

If Bryce Young is this super computer on legs. What with his processing power, and ability to read Defenses. Then why is it that CJ can get the ball out on time, and on target in around 2.5 second. Whereas Bryce has to run around like a chicken with its head cut off to make a play?

If Bryce is so good at reading and processing? Why can't he get the ball out on target, and on time?

Give me the guy who can get the ball out while still standing. Over the guy who has to run around to find a lane.

Maybe that's why Bryce's numbers against pressure look so good. Because he leaves the pocket and runs around. KInda skews those numbers just a bit don'tcha think?

Look, Bryce may be exciting to watch. But let's not kid ourselves here. By the time that second contract is coming up. Stroud will still be getting the ball out in 2.5 seconds. Whereas Bryce just may be on crutches. Or worse.

I mean

if your WR aren’t creating separation and open in 2.5 seconds.  It’s hard to throw it to them in 2.5 seconds.

if he had 4-5 top 15 WRs who could get open in less than 2 seconds.  He’d get it to then then too.

Whats Stroud going to do at the next level when his WRs don’t get open within 2-3 seconds and he doesn’t have the perfect OL to sit in there clean.

We were told Bryce had the best line in college. Yet he still has to run around to make plays.

Bama WRs are still some of the best in college. Give me a break on no talent.

Plenty of QBs get the ball out. Why can't Bryce. Maybe scheme him a better O next time?

That's the knock on OSU QBs. A lot of single read plays. It's not processing speed when the play is designed to get the ball out quickly to a specific receiver.

Yea but that wasn’t the case with Stroud this year. Maybe last year, but he didn’t have separation machines this year like he did last year. And Stroud was always making multiple reads, they weren’t one read and throw plays as much this year.  Harrison and JSN are good receivers but they’re not blowing by anyone, they were usually covered and Stroud put the ball where only they could make a play. And they were good enough to make those plays usually.
(of course occasionally there were broken coverages that let receivers just run free, just like with any good team, including Alabama)

Bryce had to skitter around probably to get his throwing lanes, like Brees often had to. His processing speed comes into play because those throwing lanes were probably visible to him for less time than most QBs. He is legit quick at processing and decision making.

because Stroud never scans the field and just throws the ball to his first read, because they're open all the time due to playing against the Golden Gophers.

Can’t tell if that’s being facetious or legit incredibly ignorant, but just to cover all the bases, OSU played against higher ranked defenses than Alabama and Stroud was almost always making multiple reads.

Brady gets the ball out in under 3 second. Everybody does. Except Bryce. Just because the scheme works, don't blame the QB.

That's lazy. Tons of QBs get the ball out in under 3 seconds. Just because CJ does as well does not automatically mean he doesn't know where to go with the ball.

I hate that ol trope. OSU has talent. lol

First off.  Who told you this?  Bama’s OL didn’t even crack the top 100 in all of CFB this past year.  Bama’s WRs were trash and “give me a break on no talent” is a lame excuse.  HS rankings doesn’t mean crap.  Ask Clemson about DJU who was the 2nd best HS QB to come out that year.

Plenty of QBs will get the ball out.  When their WRs get open.  Bama’s WRs were at the bottom of their conference in creating separation. Bryce bought them enough time maneuvering in chaos (one of those things noted by our own Josh McCown) while scanning the field and finding the open man once the guy got open.

Ironically, those Golden Gophers you are mocking had the #4 defense in the country on average points allowed. Hell, three of the top four defenses were in the Big Ten including the top two.

Whats funny is when Bryce did have a classic Bama level online and Receivers in 2021, which were on par imo with what Ohio State had this year, his average time to throw was lower than Stroud's was in 2022.

So what you're saying is; Without a top line and gret WR Bryce isn't the same QB? Funny how that works.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
