Panthers signed Oklahoma DL Jalen Redmond.

Redmond (6’3/292) shows off a basketball background with good feet and a keen understanding of how to get under blockers. He has probably relied on his athleticism for too long and often struggles to react when he is stymied in his original rush. Nevertheless, he is a good hand fighter that needs to learn when to deploy different moves. Redmond’s low center of gravity allows him to be a big contributor in the twist and stunt game. This highlights his athleticism and will help gain the favor of movement-happy coaches in the NFL. As a professional, Redmond will likely be a rotational piece but he can survive on an island against a blocker if need be. But, he should impress with his best trait of working on combo-pass rushes in tandem with a teammate.

Robert Lester was a projected first round pick? I actually had high hopes for him after his rookie season. Sad he didn’t last long. Ahhh the good old days when we had UDFA rookies staring in our secondary.

oh yea that whole season you could look at mocks and he was always up there and then he just started dropping

granted this is back when mocks were just starting to catch fire

Redmond is a gonna thrive as a 5 tech. Was eyeing him as a guy to draft to build depth out there with the switch. Will have 2 elite speed guys at 290+ as 5 techs now with brown on the other side. Love it. Now need to get a fire plug of a NT for depth/next man up.
