Bear's side of getting Moore

Lol... Not with Justin Fields throwing him the ball.  His career is, sadly, over.

We shall see.  The thing is nobody knows until DJ gets some games in with Fields.  If fact, you don't really know what you will get from Bryce Young until he gets in some games.  He might be good or a BUST. Either way, it will be fun playing Carolina in Chicago this November.

We all know exactly what we've got with Justin Fields... a QB who can't put together 150 passing yards a game.

We will all see, won't we?  Keep in mind, they had the option to take any of the rookie QBs this year and still went with the QB that couldn't throw for 150 yards. But I am sure you know better than the GM.

Of course, in order to be a true dual threat, Fields will need drastic improvement as a passer. (“We’re not called dual threats because we can run it and not throw it,” said Griffin.)

Fields has had one of the worst statistical starts of any quarterback, and the Bears didn’t win another game after that October Monday night in New England. That stretch included record-setting performances from Fields, but the offense struggled to finish games in the fourth quarter, often because of errors by a below-average receiving group, protection issues and, at times, Fields’ inability to make the clutch throw.

Some of the pre-draft concerns have borne out: the speed at which he goes through his progressions, pocket presence, ball security and sack rate. He has made big plays with his arm, but not consistently enough.

Thirty-one quarterbacks have started at least 20 games in their first two seasons over the past decade, dating to the implementation of the rookie wage scale. Fields doesn’t stack up well, though he’s easily one of the best runners of the group.

On the record, opposing coaches and players lauded Fields throughout last season. But there are still questions around the league about his ceiling, and it’s not difficult to find naysayers.

“He struggles when the bullets are flying,” said one scout, who, like others in this article, was granted anonymity because he was not authorized by his team to speak.

“Everyone knows Fields has the ability,” another scout said. “He has to improve his decision-making.”

“Fields is like a Magic 8 Ball,” another scout said. “You don’t know what you’re going to get.”

One opposing assistant coach on the defensive side of the ball observed that Fields is best when there is space on the field and he can throw to a spot, like with deep crossing routes. Some intermediate routes — comebacks or digs that require precise timing and rhythm — are where he lags, the coach said.

The Bears were 32nd in the league in passing last season

But if Fields is going to continue to run, his durability will be a concern. He suffered cracked ribs during his rookie season, separated his shoulder in Week 11 last year, then missed the season finale with a hip injury.

Needs to improve decision making.--where have we heard that one before?

Good luck DJ.

That’s a lot of give or take yards. Be bold in your prediction. Is it 800, 900 or 1k?

I'll go 937 with 5 tds if that makes you happy. Yards are gargabe anyway...... Lmk when he scores double digit tds.

It would not shock me to see him as low as 700 yards and 2-3 tds

Allen got Diggs who was a top 10 #1 wr at the time.

Fields is getting Moore, a top 10 #2 WR.

It's not the same.

Thank you Cpt. Obvious! I am not saying that Moore is Diggs. What I am saying is people don't need to write off Fields because he finally has NFL players at skill positions as opposed to absolutely nothing. When Josh Allen had no talent around him, he was throwing across his body to his FB for interceptions on 3rd and 12. Amazing what a new OC and some talent at the skills positions did for him.

Good luck DJ.

I’d argue decision making already improved and should continue. He found out his line and his receivers were trash so he had to run a ton last year. And he increased completion rate, TDS passing and cut down on interception rate in year 2 as basically a rookie with a new head coach and new offensive coordinator with minimal talent around him year 2. This is the first year we should have a real read on Justin Fields.

Does the QB have any bearing at all on these numbers? Or is it all on DJ? Asking for a friend.

As a Lions fan, I am willing to let Justin take all the time he needs to learn the position. lol
