Great Season Boys

Yeah I am kind of concerned about Fast.  He has really been great for us and I think he would be hard to replace.  I hope he likes Carolina enough to maybe take just a smidge less than the best offer he will get.

I think Fast loves the boys here enough to stay, but that requires Waddell to open the purse strings more than just a crack.

Both of these guys will call their own shots and nobody will begrudge either of them. Staal is only 34, but he looks like a player considering retirement.

Ya think? He was the 4th overall pick in 2016 and has 7 years in the league playing like a 6th round pick.

Stastny is like Fast and Staal- he gets to make his own call. I think he may retire. Stepan will be replaced. Can't pay him any less and, believe it or not, he was making $7M+ just a few years ago.

Ghost will be back next year barring a stupid amount of money he asks for. Coghlan and DeHaan are replaceable. LaJoie has shown me little to be excited about. Rather underwhelming.

Fortunately, the 3 blue lines are signed, so adding depth isn't difficult.

You really think Ghost will be back?  What kind of contract do you think he'll command?  I don't see the Canes overpaying for him.  Overall, I wasn't impressed with him.....I thought he was our worst D-man during the playoffs, especially against Florida.

I think Puljujarvi will be re-signed, BUT only if he agrees to a reasonable contract.  I think if he is given a set role and has a full training camp with us he would be a good bottom 6 player.  He has to use his size though and lay some hits on guys.  Of course, maybe there are better options....I haven't really looked to see who is available.

I break with @Anybodyhome on that. I don’t think we will overpay for ghost. Ghost was always using this as a stepping stone to revitalize his career. I don’t think he made any meaningful relationships in house. We’d have to get ghost on a level bridge deal and I think he’s going to get better offers elsewhere.

When Svechnikov had surgery mid-march, it was estimated 6-9 months to heal. Taking the 9 month period,  Svech could be back early January, maybe sooner. Never know about these things though.

Not sure about the prospects of Pacioreti returning.

People assume that ACL tears are at 100% based on improvements and some outlier guys. Generally it takes almost a year if not more for most players to fully trust the knee.

We won’t see svech until Jan/Feb. If Rod could hold him off the ice until the playoffs I’d be even more impressed.

I think he can be salvaged. He's young, big, and could be something if he takes coaching well. If we let him go I wouldn't be mad but idk, just gut feeling about him, he could be good for us.

See that’s the same boat I’m in.

    • No lie… to this day, and forever, I’m always still gonna love me some Ted Ginn.  I tell people all the time who aren’t Panther fans so they don’t know - Ted legit was our best receiver during Cam’s tenure here.
    • That game made me resign from my position as HC of UNC in my solo football dynasty on NCAA26.
    • Nah, what he did in Cleveland was damn impressive.     ain’t no way in hell we (it’s my alma mater) should’ve looked like this tonight.  That was piss poor coaching and piss poor playing.  Like they said, for both teams, this was a similar setting to when TCU played Colorado when Deion was hired.  TCU coming in to play a game against a super famous football celebrity figure with a completely overhauled roster - difference is, Colorado played up to the moment.  We just folded like a cheap lawn chair.  I was joking during the game with friends, like they really watched a whole summer of Gio and Max and decided Gio was the starter?  Hell, I bet Bryce Baker as a freshman is better than Gio.  We hyped that signing of Gio like we just won the fuging lottery, and he is complete ass.  We spent two quarters desperately not trying to throw the football - I don’t know if it’s because he can’t or what?  But there was no excuse for that.  It felt so much like the Rhule years here.  I haven’t seen such a dysfunctional offense since or before.  And then the damn defense…. I asked my friend if they just brought all 70 new guys in from a lab that does arm and leg transplants because did these guys just receive their limbs and are figuring out how to use them???  Because I have never seen a whole team look so inept.  Diving early at feet and missing them entirely, getting trucked, flailing and falling everywhere, peewee league arm tackles, always looking a step slow…  no lie, whatever the worse I could’ve imagined that debut going, take that and make it 10 times worse and I never would’ve even seen THAT happening.  Absolutely no excuse for it.  None.  All the brand power and image brought with the Belichick hire, and that’s the best he could do in his debut.  They brought MJ, LT, and Roy out for THAT???  Man, I spent 7 years of my life living there and i NEVER saw or heard of LT coming out there during that time.  They actually got him coming around to watch THAT. Bill should be fuging embarrassed.  The fuging commentary booth brought a dog in and put a headset on him as Rece Davis said, “the wheels are off, ladies and gentlemen.”  As I said elsewhere - not under Mack 1.0, not under Torbush, not under Butch, not under Fedora,  and not under Mack 2.0, did we EVER look like THAT.  Never.  You bring in a guy that is considered one of the greatest football minds in coaching EVER, and we get shellacked and don’t even look competitive???  Boy I know the boosters are shitting fuging fireballs right now.
