So a friend of mine who is a huge Cowboy fans, knows people within the organization and just flew back from the SD game tells me that Bill Cowher is very likely to be the next Cowboy coach and that Phillips, regardless of how the season plays out is done.

I consider him a very reliable source and have no problem seeing this happening.

Next.

oh no. Not another my dad's sister's 3rd cousin's friend George knows a guy who went to elementary school with this girl who kissed Tiger Woods who knew the porn star that tiger screwed that went to junior college in the cosmetology school certification project with a girl who was an extra in Harry Potter, the first movie, who is a huge Cowboy Fan that told me that Cowher was going to Dallas.

Sorry JOAT's Just giving a hard time as we all do on here ;)

Is there a rule where message boards must always give birth to homegrown insider gurus that claim to be lawyers/doctors/journalists/merchant chiefs? For some reason, there is little more irritating. End of transmission.

Nice first post there newb....thanks for adding absolutely nothing of substance.

JOAT does have access to NFL insiders and is rarely inaccurate with his information. He does not post rumor he hears....only posts those from reliable sources.

Aha, the first skirmish with one of the guru's worshippers!

I don't really have a bad opinion of Davidson per say, but if the Head Coach is replaced, I think they should clean house and bring in an entirely new Coach. It would be up to that coach if he wants to keep any of the existing staff.

Problem for me is that I don't think that everyone is bad or needs replacing. Surely if Davidson for example came in, he could do what he wants and keep anyone or get rid of anyone. But like others have said, Fox is the one holding back the coordinators and the one who is making us play this style. I think that Davidson would be okay as the OC as well and bring in someone else. It doesn't really matter at this point. I have come over to the dark side and believe that we have to get rid of Fox. I am not a rumor monger and won't discuss the source but I do believe that neither Davidson or Meeks gets the autonomy they would like or need. Therefore it is hard to know what they could do unfettered. I would like them to get the chance.

If Richardson gets rid of Fox it won't be due to the win and loss record. It will be due to whether or not he is able to maintain the respect, leadership, and cooperation of his staff and players. I have some reason to question whether that is the case at this point.

I still can't get myself buying into the idea that Fox is "holding back" his coordinators. I mean, what type of NFL head coach wouldn't dictate a certain style of offense and defense and try to get people that are wililng to implement it? Now, if Fox is the type of person that dictates but doesn't listen to input from his coordinators and staff, then that's a problem in my mind. Since I don't have sources myself, all I can do is speculate and wait until after someone from the organization slips out how things were run (for example, Gantt's article on how Fox started coming into defensive meetings when we still had Trgo and the players saying that he has never done that before).

As for Davidson as potential HC, I really don't feel good about that. Not sure why, may just be a gut feeling that he won't be able to handle the job.

Now, whatever happens with the staff going into next year, I think there is only one person that we can universally agree on that has NO defense on why he should be here next season:

No offense to the guy personally but I don't care if our coach next year is Fox, Cowher, or some bum off the street, please find a new special teams coordinator! :frown2:

Davidson? I'm sorry, panthers55, you've completely lost it. :nonod:

And this is based on your extensive knowledge of what? At least I put my point of view out there and support it with logic or reason. I didn't expect many haters to agree but the reality is that I believe Davidson has the fiery aggressive style that most fans want, he is a good communicator, appears to be well liked by players and would have their instant support. if you are basing his suitability based on his role as an OC, have we even seen what he can do? I thought it was him shooting us in the foot but now believe that Fox is not only pulling the strings on the defense but the offense as well. As such perhaps Davidson has better potential than he has shown. I have wondered since he got here why he hasn't done what he said he would. I think that it is because he isn't allowed. I think he would be a good head coach especially if he could a lure a top notch OC like Weiss.
