There is no need to cut Brandon Smith at this time. I see him progressing to be Shaq's replacement in 2025. He'll play more in 2024 and then get a chance to be the guy in his contract year.

They'll draft someone else to replace Shaq, Smith ain't it. He can't diagnose plays fast enough to play at a high level in the pros.

We have him under contract for 3 more years at ~1mil per to see if he can improve his diagnostic skills. He's 22 years old and extremely athletic for his position. I think that 1mil per year would be well spent developing him for the future. He has flashed in spurts already, imo.

Any player(s) y'all think Fitts is trying to deal?  Doesn't have to be a big name and not necessarily for a boat load of compensation.  Examples being Corral, Shi Smith, Tremble, McCray, YGM or Henderson.  All bubble-type players.  Better to get a 6th or 7th rounder than to cut them outright and get zilch.

Thoughts?

Good question:  I would say YGM because Leota had a good camp, as did Jones.

He might be a victim of the numbers game. We already have Deion Jones and Kamu Grugier-Hill ahead of him at ILB, who are both behind Shaq and Luvu. He really didn't do anything last year, new coaching regime, he might not make the team. Might stick on the PS though.

The underdog player(s) I am rooting for to make the team:

Leota, OLB.  Great motor.

Nash Jensen OG.

The players (projected to make the roster) that i hope get cut:

R. Williams, DL

Jammie Robinson, S

What do you have against Williams?  Just curious...

Well, fingers crossed we find our starting QB in the 7th round...

We found him at #1 overall. It cost a couple of extra picks and he's not the size of a monster, but he's gonna be solid. 5yrs is a long time to wait to be right about him being too little. Enjoy what you can while you can. 😄

    • And you know this how? Stay in your lane, junior. I'm pretty sure I'm a lot older than you, am a whole lot more experienced with life, and have watched football in earnest probably longer than you've been alive. I agree, but I was talking directly about injuries. As far as the economics, I'm assuming that Moton would have to take a pay cut and would probably be compelled to if he wants to stay in Charlotte. He seems like a thoughtful and practical guy. He knows that he's getting older and realizes the nature of the business. Hell, last time there were were questions on whether he would be here the last season. Dan and Brandt were dialing up the pressure. I don't think they're going to go into any type of contractual extension discussions without having a backup plan--i.e., a person that will appear to be Moton's replacement. And, to be honest, that person may be Moton's replacement depending how things go. But, I get the impression that Moton wants to be in Charlotte (unless he's developed some undying desire to chase a championship somewhere else).
    • It would be pretty fun with something like this. 3 on 3 the first 5 minutes, 2 on 2 the next 5 minutes (after a stoppage), then 1 on 1 (after a stoppage) the rest of the way. I just feel like this would be equal parts entertaining and chaos to watch
    • I'm more surprised our odds to win the division didn't really improve that much after free agency (like +380 -> + 320). I threw a few hundred on us to win the division again at +425 back in February, just because I figured Atlanta and Tampa would get worse. After our free agency, I am still surprised Tampa is the favorite to win the division.
