Miles Sucks, Right?

Miles is a decent RB. Problem is, he has such little vision. I've seen him lower his head into guys rather than just following the butts into a gap for an easy 4. Make a guy miss and it's more.

I don't have the energy to find the screenshots but there's a few at least. He just doesn't know how to find his hole sometimes. If it's square in front of him, he's gaining yards but fug man, this is the NFL. D-Will and Stew were great for us because their vision. They'd find that one cut to make to get second level and then let their skill sets gain from that point.

Miles doesn’t suck at all.  See OL thread for reasons he’s not putting up big numbers.

Yeah, I know...  but that's why I'm sharing bc he's been getting a ton of blame and I've been seeing a lot of comparisons to what he did in Philly and people asking why he hasn't done it here.

But this brings me back to coaching.  Sure, the OL ability and effort on the field has a lot to do with his productivity, but I made the point last week that when Wilks took over last season and we went to the power run game, the OL was dominant.  We started this year with the same OL minus Corbett, and even with Zavala in his place, we still had the personnel for a similar scheme as what we ran with Foreman last season...  and yet, our OL looks like complete ass.  I really think it's what the coaches are asking the OL and RBs to do, and it doesn't line up with their strengths.

    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
