keep jake, as much as people think he is done he could pull a Kurt Warner. Players have off years and while I dont see him coming back I think he could be a better back-up than Feely or McCown. We might as well keep him in hope that when/if he is called up, will play like Jake of the old days.

Mr. Scot, you sure know how to bring things down to earth...but Moore has shown he can help carry an NFL team who could possibly beat 3 of 4 of the top squads in the playoffs. He soundly beat 2 of them and Jake of course beat the Cardinals. I think the kid is fine and is our man unless we draft a really competitive QB or find a FA...which is highly unlikely.

I want to keep Jake, but I know from the Training Camps I went to, Moore didn't look very good. There was a reason he was down on the depth chart and not just because of Fox manlove for Jake. Jake actually looked like the best QB on the team. So I don't think I want the forbidden fruit Jake Delhomme anywhere near Fox. I don't think he deserves the starting job. Then again maybe a year off he can clear his head and get his mojo back.

The atmosphere of the play (practice v. game) can become a major factor in how a player performs. This is the reason why occasionally, backups outperform starters when they come in a REAL game and take their spots. I.E. Brady, Bulger, there is "moore" but I am blitzed (Don't compare the long term outcome, but the given situation)

Not trying to make this about Jake, since there is plenty of that still to come....but, Maybe if Jake had more good games than bad, I could buy that. Warner still gets it done most of the time. Jake just does us in. I mean we have a chance to get to 8-8 on the season, with Matt going 4-1, I think that says it all about Jake.

Mr. Scot...once again Great Post.

Moore does deserve the helm win or lose next week. Jake spoiled all the fans. 1st Game he comes in the 2nd half and brings the team back to win a game. DRAMATICALLY. The Cardiac Cats of 03 was a magical season. For a couple of years, he did it all the time.

Moore, He wins a couple of games but nothing really DRAMATIC. No pin point pass to win the game on the last play. He just wins. Our fans love that Drama and think that whoever we draft will come in and be the next superstar QB give us some of the Rookie QB HERO DRAMA(aka M. Ryan). The chances of us getting one like that is slim.

I believe we have all we need at QB. A solid QB, Moore, a good backup, McCown and Jake who can fill in, in a crunch. We also have a young strong armed QB in Hunter Cantwell on the practice squad who we are developing. So do we give up on Cantwell or release Jake? Can't keep 5 QB's. And if we draft a QB most likely he is going to have to stay on the active roster or someone will ****** him up like we did Moore.

My opinion is, Give Moore more weapons, especially in the WR catergory. Make is so defensive coordinators have to dig deep to find Moores weaknesses. I believe if we had a #2 or Slot Receiver like Wes Welker or Desean Jackson how do you really contain the Panthers.

We have 5 picks in this draft (not counting compensation picks) So we need to make the most of them. Drafting a QB IMO is now a low priority.

Go Panthers

:) Love this idea

:willy_nilly:

Thanks for the warning. See how easy it is? Jake needs to removed or it will never be a clean break. Just as he did the Rodney Pete, Matt Moore needs to do to him.

I understand the concern, but what young QB won't go through a regression when defenses figure him out?

Like some are saying, give Moore weapons and enjoy the ride. I'm not sure he's the answer, but if he can beat NO without Smith, I'm ready to give him a year or two.

This is what I'm hoping to see.

Mason talks about Moore's progress: Stats show Moore about QB

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I've found that the Panthers site often uses articles like this as a set-up when something is about to happen (Meat can tell me if I'm on track or not).

The tone of this article - acknowledging Delhomme's struggles, pointing out areas where Moore has surpassed Delhomme, talking up Moore's progress and performance - makes me think they're at least giving serious consideration to naming Moore the full time starter going into next season.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
