If Fox does leave, the Carolina job will be much in demand...

Per PFT,

For 2010, the AFC East teams play all teams of the AFC North and the NFC North.

The AFC North teams play the teams of the AFC East and the NFC South.

The AFC South teams play the teams of the AFC West and the NFC East.

The AFC West teams play the teams of the AFC South and the NFC West.

The NFC East teams face the teams of the NFC North and the AFC South.

So we do get the RAMS next year

As do the Saints, Falcons and Bucs.
yep.

If we promote from inside the club I'd like to see Meeks take over. The man completely turned around our defense...maybe he can turn around the entire team.

I wouldn't mind Meeks being promoted either, he was with the best quarterback in the league until the Colts let Meeks go, so I am sure he knows about Offense as well as Defense.

just food for thought, everyone keeps saying most of the pieces are in place. Who helped build the team and get the peices in place? I am not so quick to run Fox out of town. I am not happy with him not benching Jake this year though, that does piss me off.

Every Coach makes mistakes.

We have a great team, let's not waste it testing out a coach who's never lead an entire team before guys. I love Meeks, but a great coordinator does not equal a great coach. Promoting him would be just as risky as hiring any other person with no experience in the position. With this team, I'd much rather take a proven coach. We can always try out rookie coaches during rebuilding years.

I'd love Shanahan, but we all know Snyder's check writing skills will be unstoppable in that situation.

If we somehow invent time travel in the offseason, Vermeil would be the perfect man to whip our O into shape, and groom Moore if he's the answer at QB. Too bad he's never coming back.

Cowher I'm not quite sold on yet. I think anybody can win a super bowl if given 15 years with a franchise as solid as Pittsburgh.

Schottenheimer I could grow to like, but I'm still having Seifert nightmares. I think all the superstition in me wants to avoid older west coast coaches.

Honestly if I had the choice I'd just want to keep Fox. He makes mistakes sure, but the man is a proven winner. If he can somehow manage some consistency in winning, I say give the guy tenure ala Jeff Fisher.

I disagree with the Meeks comment. He has worked under two Top 5 head coaches and has learned a lot from them. On top of that, he knows our system and wouldn't change much and may actually make the team better. I would say that if we got a coordinator from the outside then I would agree but we are talking about promoting from within, someone who knows our system and would not change much. I mean, it worked well in Indy, what makes you think it won't here?

The Panthers will not be getting a new coach until this "lock out" issue is resolved. It will not be resolved and their will be a lock out in 2011. Anyone that has followed the Panthers for any length of time knows that the big cat likes his money. He is going to trim the staff in 2011 to save $. The NFL owners still get paid from the TV contracts b/c the NFL when they negotiated those contracts put a clause that they get paid regardless if the games are played. Fox coming back is all about having a decent coach for one year and then cutting back to get through the lock out in 2011. If Fox leaves, I think Meeks or someone in house will run the show for a year until this "lock out" is resolved. Just my opinion.

Having said all of this, I hope that Fox is gone. I only want him gone if we can get another top tier coach like Cower or Gruden. I will take Fox over any unproven up and coming O or D coordinator. Just my opinion. Teams will be lined up to get Fox if he leaves.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
