What Matt Moore does not do well....

I love Matt Moore as our new starting QB, but there is one thing I feel like he really needs to work on and that is selling the Play Action Fake.

Jake Delhomme (and any other quarterback for that matter) has the same motion for PA or normal run. They start of exactly the same and it's impossible to tell if its PA or not. But Matt looks completely different when he actually handing the ball off as opposed to faking it.

Sooner or later defenses will pick up on this..

Good thing he is a young QB and will have many starts next season to work on this :)

Well compared to Jake who's entire career has been PA fakes he's going to look a little worse but that should be fixed by more reps.

I'm more worried about his arm strength, at first he was so poor that he couldn't throw a long ball accuarately. Now he's gotten better but still it's just barely enough. I'd like for him to have a little wiggle room because we live and die on those passes. At least until we get another legit WR.

I will take on target rainbows over over thrown cannon fires to DB's all day. As long as he gives the receiver a chance at catching the ball (something jake hasn't been doing) I'm fine with it.

to tell you the truth his arm strength reminds me of philip rivers. about the same amount of zip when he's not trying to snipe the ball in as hard as he can. if he's as accurate, I'll be a happy camper.

Part of the reason some fans think that Moore's arm is lacking in power is because Moore has thrown some deep passes this season with a defender preventing him from stepping into the throw properly. When Moore has room to step into a deep throw, his arm looks just strong enough for what we need. I'm not saying he has a cannon, but he's not as weak as he has looked at times this season due to pressure and bad mechanics. I think Jake, in his prime, had a stronger arm than Moore, but Moore will do just fine.

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
