Lol Duke and State aint gonna be begging y'all for poo. I know that UNC fans suffer from a severe case of delusions of grandeur but jesus christ. State just finished giving you the finger in alignment talks after your BoR tried to exert it's influence over them while Duke had being doing so all along, the ACC already has its contingency plan in place for when FSU, Clemson, and UNC snake the conference via the new additions. Obviously it isn't ideal but the ACC will probably just be like how the current big 12 is whenever it happens, and there's good reason to believe it'll be a while until it does given that FSU has tried very publicly to find loopholes against the grant of rights yet can't. Have fun with your conference games against Minnesota while the rest of us keep our regional rivalries and history when it does come to pass though.

If Carolina leaves the conference, it’ toast. Look at UL vs UK. A historic, bitter rivalry that has come down to a fragile early season bball game that nobody watches. They don’t even play each other in football and nobody cares. So spare me with the regional rivalry crap.

If the ACC folds, where does that leave Duke? They bring nothing to the table aside from some notoriety of an above average basketball program. They’ll more than likely end up in a conference with DePaul, St Johns, and Creighton.

It was just an unforced error. It was a totally blown coverage. Make the safe throw. Slow him down. He could've come to a complete stop to catch the ball and moonwalked into the endzone. There wasn't a defender within 20 yards. The ball should never be overthrown in that type of situation.

Yeah…we have to remember he is 21 yrs old.  His best day this season today.

As I said earlier…I don’t see the ACC folding.  This conference has amazing history and these rivalry games mean everything.  We disagree here.  If you like Duke vs UNC in basketball you better be prepared to lose it

My biggest fear is UNC realizing their untapped potential in football lol. I think the obvious is true; 4 in state P5 programs hurt. I don’t think UNC can be a national power in both football and basketball - but if they focused that NIL money towards football - oh boy.

I just think college basketball has fallen off hard enough that it's not gonna take as much.

When I was growing up ACC basketball ran NC. Even in NC now it's a shadow of what it used to be. Out in CO you wouldn't even know it was basketball season. I watched the last UNC national championship win in Salt Lake City. I had to tell the bar it was on. Nobody cared

UNC is a basketball school…silly to think otherwise

In fact we are THE basketball school

They’ll have to pick one. They have the potential to be a national power in football. But it’ll be the demise of their basketball program. NIL has changed everything for better or worse.

NC State had a great run in 82 but seriously no one in the nation cares about State.  I doubt it crosses anyone’s mind what happens to NC State

I mean yeah but my point is that State and Duke will both do fine in what's left of the ACC. UNC leaving doesn't really matter that much, the main reason UNC even has a parachute out is because of their large national brand; football is the main moneymaker and UNCs football program is incredibly middling. Clemson and FSU's departure will probably be the real sting in the ACC's finances.

Even if the ACC somehow imploded, and it'd really take some heavy mismanagement for it to happen IMO, State could probably get a spot in whatever conference UNC doesn't go to just as a way to tap into the local market. I'm personally not completely doomer over the state of college sports; TV is a rapidly dying business and I just feel that as TV continues to decline in relevance this giant TV deal contract bubble which has caused all of this is going to burst along with it. We've already sadly suffered permanent damage to the landscape though regardless of what happens longterm.

See above post. UNC leaving is probably the least important departure of the three. Basketball doesn't mean anything in realignment, Football money completely dominates.

Why would the ACC fold? It's not in the interest of any members besides 3 for it to.

Yeah, this isn’t true at all. My God.

    • This is the new thing lol. It’s all open to interpretation and it’s your fault for your interpretation. The guy saying “stop teasing” was really very upset with Bryce Young being injured, not excited. Ignore his other posts that seem to indicate the opposite. And don’t you know “Exciting not to see Bryce!” was in no way happy with Bryce Young getting injured. Again, don’t bother looking at the rest of the posts for further context. And definitely nobody was making fun of him by saying he was injured by the water boy bumping into him, or it was a gentleman’s benching, or his feelings got hurt. And the comments about him getting tackled by a finger graze or getting taken down by a stiff fart were not hyperbolic over reactions to the play that just happened, it was just general conversation completely unrelated to that play. And of course none of their views are tainted by a desire to see Bryce Young fail, they all want the best for him and the team, that’s how you know for sure that you are totally taking all the posts the wrong way. Really can’t believe you would make up all these lies. gaslighting /ˈɡasˌlīdiNG/ noun noun: gaslighting the practice of psychologically manipulatingsomeone into questioning their own sanity, memory, or powers of reasoning.
    • I mean we had more of a defensive need in the 2025 draft than we may in the 2026 draft(so far). But we took a TE. We did it in the 5th round. Also he has overwhelmingly been our best TE to date. He and the FA pickup. I think you just have an extremely skewed view of TE's in the NFL. I would implore you to take a look at some draft history, depth charts and career progressions of a lot of those players. You are going to see ample examples of lower round guys being drafted and then immediately starting at TE. The reason it isn't rare is that there aren't many TE's taken in the 1st at all.  It's the same with other positions. You think that it's impossible to find a C outside the 1st? Well....most of them aren't 1st rounders because they rarely get taken there. How about OG? The NFL is mostly non-1st round OG's and the elite tier is almost all not former 1st round OG's. How about RB's? Pretty similar right? That's not just numbers, it's positional value historically. High value positions litter the first round. It's always been that way.
