Reid Today

"Donovan will be our quarterback next year. Donovan is a great player. His body of work over the last 11 years has proven that."

Does Andy Reid not remind you of the night manager at a Denny's or Waffle House? I swear he has helped get me a table before at 2am.

"I gots your menus, follow me. Table or booth?"

It is, as many expected, a moot question.

PFT: Reid adamant that McNabb will return

Reid confirmed Monday in his post-mortem presser that McNabb will be his starting quarterback next year.

"That is my call," Reid said. "Donovan is a great player. His work over the last 11 years has proven that. I truly believe it's a team sport and it's not all about one guy."

And no, I wouldn't have supported it. McNabb is a better QB than Moore, but for the situation it's not the way to go. If all we had a rookie to groom behind him, yes. But we have a legit starting option, so no. You don't sit Moore down again with a new guy (or with Delhomme, for that matter).

Cause McNabb '10 would probably mean goodbye to Moore.

You suggesting Moore is/should be the annointed starter next season no matter what?? I do not know if I am sold on Moore being a legit long term option. I am on board with him starting over Jake, but want and think the Panthers should bring in somebody if a good option was available. I am ok knowing Moore is there though.

had matt moore not shown off his capabilities in the last five games, i might have said yes.

...but no.

 I find it funny how a bunch of yall are convinced that Matt Moore is the answer to our problems and a franchise QB for us. I'm not saying take McNabb but Moore has really proven jack squat. I'm not nearly convinced that Moore is that great.

Only if he hollars at Michael Jackson's plastic surgeon first. If not, no thanks. Moore & Delhomme are better than he ever was.

#47 is the most ignorant poster I have ever seen. The face of the panthers can be purple as far as I'm concerned if we are living up to our potential as a team. McNabb would make a great addition to the team in any instance but regardless what the Philly press says, McNabb will stay an Eagle and rightly so. I would be willing to talk trade for the right combo, not Moore, Smitty, RBS, :linebackers or any other offensive linemen.

McNabb would only be a very short term fix (2 or 3 years) to a long term problem. The window for Moore to become a NFL starter is open now, if he were to just hang around as McNabb's backup for a few years he would only be a career backup. I also don't think that McNabb has that much left, and in the next year or 2 may have a Jake like fall. McNabb on another team might be like Bert Jones and Joe Namath with the Rams.

The Eagles would love to find a team willing to trade for McNabb, because his contract only runs through 2010, and Kevin Kolb proved this season that he's ready to be the starter next season. Kolb will be a restricted free agent at the end of next season, and they might lose him if he's not the starter, because he won't sign an extension until he is the starter.

If McNabb is traded, I think these might be the most likely teams:

(1) Vikings - If Farve retires, Brad Childers came from the Eagles.

(2) Browns - They must get a new QB, and the good ones in the draft are out of reach.

(3) 49ers - The pressure is on to make the playoffs, and Smith still has questions,
