Mark is such an exciting player to have. He reminds me of Robert Williams defensively with even more offensive potential and hopefully a healthier player than Rob.

His presence inside is huge. The Heat announcers were even talking about how it opens up the other guys to take more risks on defense knowing that he can clean up behind them.

FWIW I was also somewhat happy with Miller with the caveat that he’s not a perfect player and will not explode on the scene right away. But I see the tools that show he can be a very strong core piece. I really liked seeing him make good, quick decisions a lot of times. On 3 specific occasions I remember, he drove, drew an extra defender and immediately made the pass out to the uncovered man. 2 times Thor made the 3 and the third time was a missed 3 by Sumner.

We'll see what his dedication to the game and work ethic looks like but he reminds me a lot of Tatum in Boston, Tatum was fine his rookie year and year 2 but nothing crazy special, he really worked on his game and exploded later on though. Miller could be similar if he can get there but I agree he's not going to step in year 1 as a starter and average 15-20+ points. He really does have all the tools in the world to be an elite small forward so that is exciting. I was a Scoot guy pre-draft but Miller has such huge potential and if he hits it would be a perfect fit with LaMelo and Mark as core pieces so it's hard to complain with where we're at.

Just wish we had a better coaching staff since Clifford really ain't it. The roster is very exciting but the right coach is needed to get the most out of the young guys and develop them.

    • I wonder if they'd consider trading Rasheed Walker to a team that needs tackle help but missed out in the draft?
    • LOL. This is such a Panthers fan take.  Anyone who falls to us must suck because some other team didn't take them before.  We got lucky with Lemon, Thieneman, and Freeling all falling to us (honestly any of the three is a A+) but the WR and S positions are much deeper than the LT position in this draft.  We got the LT w/ the most upside at 19.  Mauigoa played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the nfl.  Spano played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the NFL due to short arms.  Blake Miller played RT in college and is not as good as Freeling.  Proctor is a true LT but his ability to handle quick edge's worries me (see Icky).  Freeling is a true LT and a gifted pass protector.  Many think he has a very high ceiling and will benefit from not having to start right away.  This is how you build a franchise.
    • After watching Cam get killed for years behind a bad Oline and having to watch the 2021 and 2023 Olines I will never complain about this team putting resources into that spot.  We got a true LT who could really push Rasheed Walker for the day 1 job. Go back and watch Iceky's draft profile from 2022 and all the talk was Ickey would be an all-pro guard in a zone blocking scheme, but he could play LT in a gap power run scheme. That's why Ickey looked really good when Wilks took over and we just started running gap run plays and just mauled people up front but under Canales we've been more of a zone running team. Ickey can survive at LT with his pass blocking but his true strength will always be his ability to just move guys in the run game and that's a skill set that's better used at guard.  Take another OT later on day 3 to learn from Moton to take over RT in a couple of years and let Walker and Freeling battle it out for the day 1 LT job then next offseason trade one of Hunt of Lewis and let Ickey move inside to guard.
