Receivers coach Richard Williamson, who has been with the Panthers since their inception, announced his retirement today. Williamson, 68, has been the team's receivers coach for 13 of his 15 seasons with the team. He was also offensive coordinator in for some of 2000 and '01.

Carolina was Williamson's longest stop as a coach: He'd been in the NFL since 1983, serving stints at Kansas City, Tampa Bay and Cincinnati. He served as the Buccaneers' head coach in 1991 and for three games in 1990). He was also head coach at Memphis from 1975-80 in the college ranks.

He played for Bear Bryant at Alabama and caught passes from Crimson Tide quarterback Joe Namath.

It's the second coaching change the Panthers have announced this offseason. Special teams coordinator Danny Crossman was fired last week. -- David Scott

I'd like to try and bring in the Saints receivers coach Curtis Johnson, if at all possible. Hopefully, he'd be up for the challenge, lol.

Look what he's done with Colston, Lance Moore, Meachem, and Henderson... Those guys have talent, but they definitely have all maximized it when given the opportunity.

CURTIS JOHNSON 2010 FTW!!!

Why in the world would he leave the Saints, who have better WRs, to come here where we have worse? I highly doubt we'd offer that much more money to make him jump. Oh, and I could look good as a WR coach with Brees as my QB.

    • After seeing hits in the last two UDFA pools, I do not in this group sorta of a let down after I gassed myself up.  Not like I know of their games, but just expected more. The duke DT only has to beat out hunte (2025 UDFA) or Ray (DL coach's kid) or even Cam Jackson mid 2025 5th.  I thought they would bring in more edges, IOL, TEs, etc...
    • My 2 favorite picks, since you didn't ask? 3. Brazzell II.  A 1000 yard WR with 4.37 speed and checks all the boxes for a Z Wide Receiver.  IN THE THIRD ROUND!!! 5.  Sam Hecht.  I think he will take over as the starter at some point this season and never look back.  IN THE FIFTH ROUND. Runner Up:  2. Hunter:  We were targeting a DT early in this draft because we did very little to replace Robinson in free agency.  Hunter was our guy and he will start. In addition to that, you got a starting tackle that should man one side of the new OL we will build for Bryce's second contract. A starting WR, offensive lineman, defensive lineman and possible Offensive tackle (at some point during this year from this draft will start.  UNREAL. In addition, I don't doubt that Wheatley (5th round) takes the FS job by next year and Lee III is Jackson's replacement in 2027.   Finally, even Kuwatch should be a special teams demon and LB depth.   Last year's draft was so good it was ugly.  This one will turn out to be uglier.  No offense Basbear--this ain't about you.
