Peppers is traded for 1st and 3rd.

We tender Moore with a 1st and 3rd. Most likely to retain him.

We sign/trade for Malcolm Floyd WR of the Chargers

We draft Golden Tate in the 1st, Brian Price in the 2nd, Austen Lane DE (Murray State) in the 3rd and Dan LeFevour or John Skelton in the late rounds.

I would like to see Peppers signed longterm at a cap friendly amount relatively speaking.

I would draft a quarterback in the 3-5 rounds to develop as our future backup and eventual starter down the road (long range project)

I think we are set at DT for the foreseeable future so I might draft one like we did Favorite but wouldn't look for a starter here. If Peppers leaves I would be adding DEs.

Frankly I would bring in at least 2 wide receivers in the draft maybe a 2nd and 4th hoping to find the guys of the future. Likely sign a free agent or two if we can find them.

I would draft another CB especially and safety as well as look at another linebacker and a few offensive linemen. At this point we will need more depth but the starters seem generally fine at most positions.

With the lockout looking possible I doubt we make wholesale changes particularly with the way we finished up. Seems we have the makings of a strong team next year. It reminds of what happened in 2004 when we finished 6-2 and the momentum carried over into 2005 as well as we had a bunch of backups who got good playing time like this year due to injury.

that sounds nice and all, but about the peppers thing though... do you really think a team will pick up the big $$$ contract for peppers and give up nice draft picks for him? maybe the lions or browns, but u know peppers will not play for a "Down in the Cellar" team like them anyways.

he either re-signs or he walks.

I agree.

only thing I would alter is make it more of a priority to bring in a good legit veteran WR. I can see Moose completely falling apart soon.....he never had good hands and is getting slower and slower and slower every day. We need sure thing in case potentials don't work out.

There's no way that we get a 1st and a 3rd for Peppers. I agree that he either signs or he walks.

As for Price, I think he'll end up going in the 1st round. Even if he's a 2nd rounder, he'll definitely be gone by our pick.

We need DT or WR (BPA between those positions) with our 2nd rounder.

Moose looked great at the end of the year with Moore under center.

moose will be 37.....he has never had what people consider good hands and will even slower. Carolina needs a better #2 now....now later. They now need to be looking for a future #1 and #2.......I think they need to bring in a vet that isn't a question mark.

I wonder who might be out there we could get and whether the fact that the coaching staff is going into their last year and that a lockout is possible, whether we would sign someone long term or they would even want to come here under the circumstances. I could see bringing a few veterans if they would work on a 2 year contract but really doubt we would go after a marque guy on a long term deal. On the other hand I heard one guy on Sirius say he thought that Boltin might be obtained with a second rounder this year. That would be very hard to pass up.

    • Not exactly sure that is an honest assesment of the talent he had to work with that year. Olsen had over 1100 yards that season making the PB, Stewart had close to 1100 total yards also going to the PB. He had Kalil at C who went to the PB, Trai Turner at RG who also went to the PB, and Michael Oher at LT who played well enough that the Panthers offered him a new contract the following year. I wouldn't call that a trash OL. He also played with a defense that was stacked with talent as well.   "The thing we are doing better this time around is actually surrounding our #1 overall draft pick QB with talent vs. asking him to completely carry the offense. I just hope that effort is leading us to realize that the guy isn't even good enough to get carried." Please.... Did you not read the list of names Newton had to work with his rookie season. I guess you missed it so I will post it again for you... Steve Smith (PB), Greg Olsen (PB), Brandon LaFell, Ted Ginn JR, Deangelo Williams (PB), Jonathan Stewart (PB), Jordan Grossn (PB), Ryan Kalil (PB) on the offensive side and then he had Luke Kuechly (PB), Jon Beason (PB), Thomas Davis (PB), Star Lotulelei, Kawann Short ( PB ),Charles Johnson, Greg Hardy (PB ), Mike Mitchell, Josh Norman (PB)  For comparison, here is who Young had his first year.  Chuba Hubbard, DJ Chark, Jonathan Mingo, Adam Thielen, Hayden Hurst, Ikem Ekwonu, Chandler Zavala, Bradley Bozeman, Nash Jensen and Taylor Morton. Not a single PB player on the list and most of them aren't even playing any longer. Additionally, his HC was fired during the season and the defense was as bad as the offense.  You might not like the comparison but saying Newton had to completely carry the offense isn't exactly fair to the 4 pro bowlers on offense who played with him that year.
    • That's why I say we have to keep looking. Even if you believe Bryce is the guy, KP and Grier are not and who knows if King is anything more than a gimmick player, we should be active in improving our 2nd QB spot. Season ending injuries happen, and you don't just want to roll over and give it up. How many starters have we seen come from the ranks of backup? Having 2 potential starting QBs is one of the best problems we could have.
    • Eh, it’s more on how bad the refs are. Some of these calls against the canes are no calls
