IMO he is going to work out if he goes to a team with stability already in place.  Too good of a talent.  Let a guy like Sean McVay or KOC work with him with those receivers and boy oh boy.

Unfortunately for Caleb, those types of teams don't pick in the top 3.  I could be wrong here but he strikes me as someone that when the going gets tough, he's not going to rebound as well as others would/will.  Especially when it isn't just losing games but him not putting up the big numbers he's used to in college.

Yeah, you're going to a poo show as a top pick. Going to a team trading up from #9 to #1 is theoretically one of the best possible scenarios as a top pick. Oh well.

He could conceivably wind up on a Jim Harbaugh coached Bears team.

That would likely be interesting.

I have a feeling the next staff is going to take a flyer on one those that drop next year anyways.

You can't take a flyer on a 2nd or 3rd round QB the year after we made a huge trade up to take a QB #1 overall, not with as many holes as we have right now and no first round pick.

Our 2nd round pick needs to be a week 1 starter while our 3rd needs to be at worst an impact player as a rookie, if not a starter.

But I'm 100% on board with taking one in 2025 with our Top 5 pick that year and then dump Bryce.  Which is also why you can't blow a pick on a QB in this year's draft, we need to add more talent to the roster for that QB we end up taking in the 2025 1st round.

If we can find a way to pick up an extra 4th or 5th, I wouldn't be against taking someone then and seeing if we hit on one, but not with our first two picks or even our own picks, we'd need to find a way to get an extra pick in that range.

Yeah, I think Bryce is a bust at this point but given the investment you have to give him two years and put the best possible unit around him. If he's not significantly better next year, swing again in '25.

Oh Bryce is absolutely a bust, he's already proven that he's never going to be elite, even with a better team around him, league average QB is his absolute peak potential, and that's if EVERYTHING goes perfectly right for him the rest of his career, which let's be real, seems a low probability anyways.  And I don't even think it's about giving him a 2nd season given the investment, it's that there isn't a logical way we can replace him after this season with a long term option.

If we had our 1st rounder, I'm taking a new QB and shipping Bryce out for literally anything anyone would offer up for him, but we don't and you're not going to get a sure thing at QB in the 2nd or 3rd round, even in a good QB class.

Honestly, if we had a better team, I'd be fine just benching him and going with Dalton or a FA at QB next year, but starting Bryce is our worst option, which in turn means it's our best chance at being in position to draft his replacement in 2025 by starting him and losing.

    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
    • "In fact, they’ve worn silver pants just six times since 2023. Compare it to the number of times they’ve worn black (20), white (15) or process blue (11) pants in those same seasons and you start to wonder how long it’ll be before they promote their black alternate helmets to primary status and phase out silver entirely" Basically this - just eliminate silver from the colour scheme. Maybe experiment with white matte helmets as an alternate to the black ones too.
    • Ideally every player would win the job in a fair competition. Beat out the guy in front of you. If you can.     If XL is in front of a draft pick, the draft pick needs to beat him out. Whoever is in front of him.  Should be the way of the world.     Aside from that if they do want to trade XL they should give him a chance to rehabilitate his rep and up his value. Showcase.   But then if he proves he is worth something you want to trade him away?  I do  no t think we would save all his guaranteed money, for one.  Not sure though.     And finally, today I posted about Bryce throwing it away on 4th down.   It got me thinking of the mental stuff with XL. What Bryce did was just about as bad as XL’s mental lapses in terms of being ignorant.   I bet there are some Bryce supporting XL haters here, that one is for you.
