Peter King: Just Walk on By

To people that want a young offensive coach... or people that want a highly touted fresh face (Anarumos and McDonalds)...

Maybe someone can correct me on this, but I've never seen an Owner's reputation destroyed in six years. Dan Synder... Hugh Culverhouse... none of them can say that they did this.

What he's done to this organization is criminal. For a start up franchise we had a pretty awesome run the first 2 decades. Nfc championships, superbowl appearances and many playoff appearances.  Sure we had growing pains but those seasons produced good results later. Tepper has came in and turned this organization into the worst and most toxic in pro sports.  He's taken our Panthers and turned them into an absolute nightmare for the loyal fans. I wish rules were in place that totally incompetent deranged owners could be forced to sale. I knows there's nothing we can do except turn the channel or stop buying tickets.

Man screw Peter King.

I mean... he ain't wrong. Plenty of us here have basically been saying that Tepper is either going to have to grossly overpay or settle for someone who doesn't have any other NFL HC options. I mean, the Lions' OC turned down a second interview to stay in Detroit as a coordinator vs. potentially working for Tepper as a HC and that was BEFORE he fired another coach after 11 games and mortgaged the short to medium term future of the franchise on a severely physically limited QB.

This wasn't a great job a year ago. But it's the worst job in the NFL now. Tepper has to change for that to change.

I dont know, part of me thinks the extent of his mingling might not be as bad as its being made out to be. This could all be the result of just “listening” to bad football people.

The lions coach turned down all 2nd interviews…not just with panthers.

The big problem is he wants to succeed too much, but he thinks it's on him to ensure it happens and the more he fails, the more he feels he has to fix it or make sure he fixes it.

What makes it even harder is he's no smarter than many fans. You look at that thread that talks about what we would do to fix the team and I could see him in there going , "yeah! This is what I need to do!"

Not that he would read any and take suggestions, more that his mind is working the same way most of ours do....thinking that he knows more about how to run/fix a team than we actually do.

It's ok for us, because we're just dumb fans dreaming. It's not ok for him because he's just a dumb fan who owns a team and wants to run it.

And what makes it even worse is this is something he's obsessed with and he's not going to be able to let go or back away. he'll hire and get involved in every aspect and he'll listen to and be influenced by too many voices (including his wife).

Hire a president of football operations who knows his poo, then give him the authority to run the team and then back the hell off.

    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
    • I hear you but yeah like you say, above average. His numbers were good. You’d think it would be a no brainer. Anyhow… I guess the new staff is also fine with him walking?    I hope if we sign him there isn’t some secret issue of his that led to him not being valued.
