Flying South?

Espn... I mean Pat Yasinskas has an article about Donavan Mcnabb possibly coming to Carolina.

Thoughts?

Personally I would love to see Mcnabb, Moore, and Delhomme battle it out for the starting position.

A real QB competition? could be fun to watch.

It's hardly what I'd call "an article about Donavan Mcnabb possibly coming to Carolina."

It's an answer to a mailbag question from a fan, and Yasinskas' take is that while he'd be in favor of it personally, there's little to no chance of it happening.

Pat Yasinskas: Despite all the rumors about McNabb, I’m not sure the Eagles will really part ways with him. The guy’s had an incredible career, far better than a lot of Philadelphia fans give him credit for. If the Panthers tag Peppers and the Eagles made McNabb available in a trade, I think that’s something the Panthers would have to consider. But it’s sounding more and more like the Panthers just might let Peppers walk. If that happens, I don’t know that will instantly free up $20 million. I think the Panthers, like a lot of teams, are going to be conservative this year because of the labor situation. Still, somehow, I’d like to see them get a quality quarterback. I think Matt Moore is an option, but he certainly isn’t a sure thing. John Fox needs a sure thing at quarterback.

I wonder who played better in the last 5 games of the season...McNabb or Moore?

Just kidding, I don't actually wonder that because I already know the answer.

Absolutely no reason to spend what it would take to get McNabb when Moore is everything we need in a QB. Pick up a proven back-up like Tyler Thigpen and/or draft a promising rookie QB in the middle rounds for development. Moore starts and Delhomme hangs around another year in case Moore gets hurt/flops.

They made it seem like that when the article on the main nfl page of espn has a big picture of Mcnabb and the description. Flying South? Is Donovan McNabb a possibility for Carolina, which lacks a sure thing at QB? Maybe, but a lot has to happen before the Panthers would consider such a move.

    • We’re in a pickle. My best hope is we protect him and can run the ball vs most Ds and the WRs are healthy so he has every chance to not look like what he looked like in too many games last year.
    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
    • Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
