He just never saw the defender that made the play. He was watching the trailing defender and thought he had a layup. One of the dangers of throwing across the field. It's not only a tougher throw, it's a tougher read.

Credit where credit is due though, it was a helluva defensive play

I hate running wide out of shotgun on 3rd and short when you'll for for it on 4th as long as you don't go backwards.

Then you interfere with the punt catch and you should've just fuging gone for it anyway.

Jake threw so many wounded ducks that were facepalm inducing. Luckily he had Smitty to bail him out on a lot of those.
