is there a worse destination than Carolina for a GM or HC?

There are several things the Panthers have going for them:

-Weak division

-Few bad contracts/cap room

-Owner with deep pockets

-Talented young pieces on defense

-Bryce (despite the naysayers, he will be viewed as a bonus by many). They will realize he can do good things if you protect him/give him weapons.

-Its one of only a handful of openings

I dunno.  If I were a GM, I would see this as a challenge.  I would ask Tepper, during the interview, if he will continue to be involved in player personnel decisions.  If he does not say "no," I walk out and thank him for the coffee.

i’d say it’s one of the more attractive, only thing that’s not attractive is not having the first round pick.

GM and Coach both open means it’s better than any other job with just a coach immediately

Tepper has infinite funds. Chargers are cheap and have no culture or fanbase

Tepper will learn. He’s embarrassed. He’ll step back. At least he wants to win.

From Mike Sando in The Athletic:

What will Carolina do? That one could be most interesting of all, given owner Tepper’s experience with Ron Rivera, Perry Fewell, Matt Rhule, Steve Wilks, Frank Reich and Chris Tabor in his six seasons of ownership. Tepper, who made his billions in hedge funds, trades coaches like cryptocurrency.

“We should probably predict who his next interim head coach is going to be,” a veteran exec joked.

Sando's Pick Six

Safe to say Tepper's reputation precedes him 😕
