ESPN suspends Kornheiser

RISTOL, Conn. (AP) -- ESPN has suspended host Tony Kornheiser from his television talk show Pardon the Interruption for comments he made on the radio last week about SportsCenter anchor Hannah Storm's clothing.

Kornheiser announced the suspension on his Washington D.C. radio show Tuesday morning, calling his remarks about Storm intemperate and stupid.

ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz, while confirming the suspension, declined to say how long the suspension would be. He said the network would likely have a statement later Tuesday.

Kornheiser described an outfit Storm was wearing at ESPN last week as horrifying, saying her shirt was too tight and looked "like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body."

Kornheiser said he had called Storm to personally apologize for the remarks.

Really? This is just stupid. Joan Rivers says these types of things on every red carpet special. If that was all the comment was then I don't see how that constitutes a suspension? On the other hand, ESPN employees getting suspended for bad jokes could be a great president!

While I believe the reasoning given for suspending the guy was probably "undeserved"... I can't disagree with the motivation to get rid of him.

Watching MNF while he was in the commentary booth was painful most the time. The little "write-ups" he would read off right before kick off about particular players, teams, or match ups, were often overly emotional, heavily opinionated, or just plain stupid.

Furthermore, when the game was being played, he RARELY talked about it from a situational standpoint... probably because he didn't have a clue what the hell was going on.

So, while the reason is BS... I'd think ESPN would be a better place without him.

I don't mind Tony, actually. I much prefer him to some of the clowns ESPN continually trots out (specifically: Bayless and Mariotti).

Hannah Storm can wear whatever she damn well pleases though. Or nothing, that's fine too.

i love tony, pti is my favorite show (except 24) he says stuff like that all the time im very surprised they suspended him. dan lebitard does a good job filling in though
