You know who is eyeing that peppers money?

I agree with you on the coaching contracts.

However, I think the Pep and Kemo decisions are based more on whether they are worth the money, than on saving money.

I agree with that statement except I think Kemo is more so worth his money if he can fully come back from the ankle injury.

It all depends, too, on what 2011 is looking like. Why sign a player to a high-pay 1 year contract when working out a long term deal may be hindered by a football-less 2011?

Me if there's no football in 2011 --------------->> :cryin:

yeah in the last thread where everyone was panicking i asked if they'd rather have peppers or a locked up beason, davis, kalil, marshall, and deangelo.

no one really said anything and just continued to eat paste

I was eating Pie thank you. ;) Still we need to look at atleast one WR in FA.

I mean when we got Ken Lucas from SEA our team was prob at the bottom of

the list of good CBs and the was one of the players that turned that around.

We need one Proven player to complement Smith and allow us to develope

the rest of our WRs that we might draft slowly.

It's better to spread the money around to a group of excellent players than to put it all into the hands of one phenomenal, yet spotty, player who'd rather not be here.

I hate to see Pep go, but it was both his wish and for the betterment of the team long-term. Maybe we'll play against him in the Super Bowl.

It's not a criticism, Fiz.

There's more to saving money for the franchise than just watching the players' salary cap and, yes, IMO JR is watching the $$ that would be spent in 2011 looking towards a lockout in 2011. He didn't extend or fire Fox or his coaching staff. Extending would've taken him to paying in 2011 whether there's football played or not. And he didn't fire Fox because he couldn't hire any new head coach by offering only a 1 year contract. I believe that is the big reason April signed with Philly and didn't consider the Panthers. He signed a 3 year deal. Our WR coach signed only a 1 year contract and our new ST coordinator is on a 1 year contract too.

He's not cheap and never has been. He'd be willing to spend if he believed it would improve the team. But any money spent in 2011 if there's no football played may as well be flushed. It's better kept in the bank that year.

JR is hedging that there won't be any football played in 2011. So, everybody, count to 10 and chill. Don't be holding your breath that anything is going to happen anytime soon by our FO. If circumstances change Hurney & Morrison will be very busy boys, signing everyone in a hurry that we want to keep. And extending contracts or hiring coaches.

Shouldn't Matt Moore be added to the list??

Well said you 2. I agree wholeheartly there.

oh no he's not putting a franchise tag for 21 million dollars on a player who shows up 8 games a season, and he might not pick up the option on a 30+ year old DT coming off a season ending surgery who was never that good anyway.

richardson must be trying to save money a bloo bloo bloo

also the glazers made money on manchester and if you knew anything about the situation or how they bought the team with borrowed money using the actual team as collateral (illegal in the states) you'd know that but nope you're dumb as a poo house rat.

I guess I could expect more but from you I suppose it is asking too much. Let me know when you want to actually discuss issues instead of throw around juvenile insults. But then this is your typical tactic when you have nothing of value to add to the discussion which seems to be all the time. You simply attack or belittle others. Feels like being back in middle school. Thanks for the ugly flashback.

Nothing has been done yet. And with the CBA in doubt, we seriously don't know if they will even extend anybody at this point. There is nothing really pressing, unless the CBA gets extended. That's the hanger.

Even without the CBA, the money would have been there, cause Richardson has never been shy about spending money.

All this being said, I hope they lock up our young talent.

    • I'm not saying it shouldn't be a part of his game it should be present yes. But expecting 500/10 in the rushing category is not sustainable IMO. All it's going to take is a defender to be willing to sacrifice a penalty or a fine to send a message just as the Falcons did with Sam Darnold. And even as big and durable as Cam was defenses eventually started to try to send a message to him too. We have to be realistic about not putting our QB at unnecessary risk. Especially given the fact we aren't even willing to run a QB sneak with him. We've also invested a good bit in our backfield that's what they're there for. And furthermore ultimately whatever QB  tier Bryce Young ends up landing in over the course of his career it is going to be defined by what he does as a passer not his rushing ability. That's all I'm saying.
