Agent: Panther's Having a Firesale, Have Thrown Away 2010 Season

Richardson is sealing John Fox and Marty Hurney's fate.. by giving them an inexperienced team, he is setting us up for failure this season, thus making it easier to cut Fox and Hurney for another sub-par season. Screw you Richardson.

I dont necessarlily think this is the case and nobody really knows who is calling ALL the shots. Would you rather see a Fox/Hurney combo mortgage this teams future just to make a run in 2010?? I hate it more when GM's do that and it was the feeling I got last season with all that went on. This offseason appears more to me they are not sacrifycing the team for the short term and might be planning on building a solid team for the long run because they expect or hope to be part of it. The last think JR wants is to plan for sub-par season to seal Fox's fate. If Fox is a good coach he should be able to win with this team. Its not that bad, there is plenty of talent left. I think they will be better.

Why does Richardson need to make it easier to cut Fox and Hurney? He can do that any time.

Some of the dumb poo on here is just amazing.

I do have to agree with you on that one. Watching our Front Office peddle away our draft picks for DTs last year made me almost cry...

However, its an UNCAPPED year, with a potential lockout coming next year. If they can come to short-contract terms with some decent Free Agents, they can still make a run at 2010 without throwing away our future.

There are plenty of unrestricted and restricted free agents out there. And yet, we've heard about nothing but releases and letting free agents move on from here.

If we do the same crap we did last year, and go into the draft with no Free Agent pick ups, we're toast for 2010.

we got rid of an overpriced primadonna de, a loved yet ineffective qb, two interior linemen who could not get push, the oldest of 3 (!) fullbacks we carried, a kicker.....and that means we are going to lose next year?

I'm thinking the opposite.

Your forgot to mention a few others. Include our number 2 receiver, our 2 best defensive ends, our 3 best DTs, a very good linebacker, and now a fullback who was head and shoulders above his replacement in addition to who you mentioned. And that assumes we don't let anyone else go. I expect that there will be more guys gone like Kasay, Baker and perhaps Smitty will be traded. This isn't over yet. Lets see who is left and then we can discuss how good or bad we will be.

you are right. we will wait until the big money guys are gone, then we will pick up 3 or 4 low to medium talent players at each position of need, and let them all battle it out. that gives us the best chance to find the diamond in the rough. remember all of the 0-line guys we brought in before we decided on keydrick vincent?

ageed 100%.

Smitty is not getting traded.. no way that happens. There is still plenty of talent on this team and contrary to what many are thinking the Panthers are not tanking the 2010 season.

Regarding Kasay... you will need to get prepared for that one and if it happens its NOT to tank next year, it would be to bring in a guy that can do both FG and Kickoffs.

You are correct the Dline will be 100% different, but every team has holes and d there is plenty of time to address the Dline - plus its time to put up or shut up for the other guys they already have on the roster. Besides that the LB's, Corners, and Saftey's are solid and potentially very good.

and a #2 WR will be addressed. The panthers might already have him on the roster :-)

Last season the Panthers bring back 21 of 22 starters and people were worried about staying stagnent and look how last year turned out (yes , hard to tell though with how bad Jake was). Lets not forget how bad the same defense was the second half of the '08 season. This season the team is shredding average to good veterns and 1/2 the fan base is panicked.

I am fine with the talent they have left and thinks its a great core to build around. I also think the team will be better next season. Either way I am excited to see how it all plays out.
