Buffalo was pretty awful last year, weren't they?

Yes, but so was Jake. And if you go back and check the stats of that game, we had 200-300 yds. of Offense. And Buffalo had less that 80 yds. (something like that) is was pathetic. Jake throw 3-4 costly interceptions where the Bills scored off 2 of those picks.

Again Jake killed us with this game.

My prediction and others from what I can see are based on who is here now. Once the draft is over and free agency winds down we will better know who is here. Once training camp and preseason arrive we will have a much clearer idea of where we stand. Predictions then will likely be more accurate and semi-reliable. Until then it is the offseason and right now we are not a very talented or deep team at several positions. So I can see 8-8 or less right now. As I just said, if we make additional pickups and bring quality guys in, the predictions will change and should. Any predictions now are like saying how much money do you have based on looking at your checking account. It depends on when you look. For most of us it changes over time. Likewise to determine if we will be good or bad depends on when you look. Right now our team may not look the same as it will 5 months from now or it may not change that much.

Minus Peppers, I think it's fairly obvious this team would be 8-8 as it stands, because it's basically the same team fielded last year, minus Delhomme. With Moore, it could've easily been a way better year. Hence why I would predict better than 8-8...

But yeah, I see your point about "right now" and why they "graded" the Panthers the way they did.

It isn't close to the same team. Even with Brayton back and calling Moore a starter since he started 5 games, we still have 7 starters from last year not on this squad. That is 1/3 of the starting team. And for the most part the current replacements were not as productive as the starters. So to say we are the same or better is a gross overstatement.

They have a decent pass D and Jairus Byrd is a ball hawk.

Really doesn't matter though we should've ran way more than we did.

Jake completely lost that game with his int's.

That was the ONLY offense that Buffalo had. He killed our drives and gave them every point they had.

I know, I know.

I'm just agreeing with Dirty Sanchez that there is at least a game each year that the Panthers should win easily but do not. They may not lose as a result of Jake throwing picks next year, but you better believe the Panthers will lose to an "inferior" opponent, just as they'll beat a "superior" opponent.

I just don't see how you can pick us going 6-10 next year w/ these opponents:

Home- Falcons (W). Saints (W), Buccaneers (W), 49ers (W), Cardinals (W), Ravens (L), Bengals (L), and Bears (W).

Away: Falcons (L), Saints (L), Buccaneers (W), Seahawks (W), Rams (W), Browns (W), Steelers (L) and Giants (L).

We'll be 10-6 next year.

    • We need a Sam Off Ball Backer to pair with Lloyd. Lloyd is a strong Interior Will especially in Pass Coverage- but that is also Trevin Wallace’s archetype. Need a Rozeboom style run stopper. Rodriguez and Allen fit that
    • There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up.  That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1.    While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE.     Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me.   Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth.    ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace.    EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely.    FS?  Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs.    CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.
    • Sounds like Veesaar is entering the draft. He could always test the waters and pull out and return but without him our big men look like a serious liability. Better do something in the portal. If they don't do something about this portal madness my days as a college sports fan are probably numbered. This bullshit of having a nearly entirely new team every season is gonna get old fast.
