NBA Draft

Not much action in this sub but the NBA draft still means something for the Hornets so starting a discussion.  I have been watching a ton of videos on these prospects lately.  This team needs a big man and overall defense.

That said, Dalton Knecht fits perfectly here IMO.  He is older and doesn’t play defense but his dude is a next level scorer.  Really nice athleticism as well. Good ball handling.

I saw him in person in the NCAA tournament in a regional in Charlotte.  He did not have a good offensive game at all.  But, he did not even try on defense.  It was nuts watching him chill as players got layups on him.  So, you won’t get a defensive guy.

That said, he is a ridiculous scorer with his size and athleticism.  If he is there we need him.

I seriously see shades of a Luka Doncic type scorer.

Yeah, I’m with trading the pick.

Dillingham will be gone and Castle only wants to be a PG. Those were the only guys I was interested in with a top 5/6 pick.

Trade the pick for an established player.

Castle also refused to workout for the Hornets

I'll take Donovan Clingan

He fits a need so he should be in the mix.  He really improved last season and is still only 20 yrs old.  No question he would have the biggest defensive impact of these players.  High floor cuz he will definitely contribute.  Good call.

I don’t agree with people that think Mark Williams solves things in the middle.  He is a good piece with potential…thats it

Hornets were dead last in rebounding last season.  Our defense was really terrible.   I so understand we were also the worst shooting team overall but damn we need to get something solid on defense.

There is actually an argument for moving up for Clingan.

Clingan averaged 7rpg and the dude is 7'2!

What makes you think he will improve vs bigger more athletic centers?

Dude is just another Mason Plumlee at best.

I think he could help us but he probably won’t be a top 5 center or anything like that.  This is a weak draft as well as most these guys have questions

Yeah I know the draft is weak, but a 7'2 guy who averaged 5rpg as a Freshman and 7rpg as a Sophomore is concerning. He's basically just a tall body. He should have double digit rebounds vs smaller weaker kids in college.

NBA is much more physical and athletic. It gives me red flags about his game.

I mean you have a point.  I don’t see us talking him anyway honestly and there is some talk he goes two to Washington.  I just hope we get someone impactful…we need it

His rebounding is fine.  Over 40 min, he avg 17 and 13 rebounds per game per year.  The issue was he only played 13 and 22 minutes a game.

So why is he only playing 22min a game?

Another red flag...

7'2 300 pounds this dude will have knee/foot issues down the line. Sorry he's not at the top of my list to draft.
