He would want money. We can't spend money in an uncapped year. Besides, we have young players that need to step up.

(Italicized for those who haven't received the rose colored glasses yet.

not sure your take... can't read comments as well over a computer... however, the young guys who need to step up are all in positions other than WR. We do have some guys at WR who should step up, but I do not expect them to fill a solid role anywhere like Smitty, or Marshall should he join our team.

Bring him in! (I'm sure we have some dough to sign him now that Pep is gone)

Keep dreaming guys.

not so much dreaming than knowing our FO won't do what's necessary to shore up a position they've been trying to fill since Moose left...

The chance is smacking them in the face.. no big reason not to other than wishful thinking that the draft might somehow be our lottery ticket. now THAT'S not going to happen.

Denver wants a 1st round pick in this years draft . We don't have one. This receiver is not the type of player Richardson wants. Be unhappy about that all you want.

well, the draft is 2 weeks away.. they better get to work on getting rid of Marshall then..

after the fact, everything is up in the air.. and Marshall needs to fall somewhere in the Charlotte area..

being unhappy isn't really the point I'm getting across.. it's that we have the OPPORTUNITY to grab up a true #1 WR, this WR being one we WILL NOT find the same quality or even close anywhere this offseason or maybe next season or the season after because... Carolina doesn't go for big time FA? so then when will we get a strong #1? through the draft?... If Marshall isn't a logical choice, how in the world are you going to tell me the Panthers drafting a true #1 is a logical choice? It's been 5+ years.. certainly that "correct, logical thought" would have brought us something by now..

and I'm fairly sure we have the exact replica in Smitty as we have in Marshall concerning off the field issues (well, they are really on the field issues, just like Marshall)... there is no real difference between the 2 as far as "character" goes..

Really, Smitty has more knocks on him than Marshall.. so for BM not being "our kind of guy" is really not as big of a dispute as some would believe..

The guy wants paid.. seems harmless enough. Plenty of players in the NFL want paid. Pay the guy, at least he's not punching players in the locker room.. lol

I love Smitty.. I don't hold those incidents against him like others may and will do.. however, to tell me BM has character problems and JR isn't interested in "those players" doesn't add up to me.. To use that excuse is kind of talking out of both sides of the mouth..

This is primarily directed towards the FO since that is the foundation of what players will be brought in and which will not.. I realize you are just pointing out the opinion that since JR doesn't like a character issue guy, he wont' come in, so we shouldn't fret over it..

well, I'm fretting, because any excuse like he isn't our kind of guy is bullshit... he isn't TO, he isn't Smitty, he isn't Moss (minus somewhat quitting during TC)... pay the guy. you shouldn't have any issues.

and if he isn't gone by draft day.. a #1 in this draft is kind of out of question by 31 other teams in the NFL.. If the FO wants this guy, they'll find a way to get him..

sorry for rambling, it's late... and this issue is one I do take part in... we've only had 1 receiver for years.. it's annoying. here's a fuggin great chance to get a big time play maker. make it happen. off-field issues and excuses be damned.. Bolden is a good choice but Marshall isn't? They both created issues in the media over getting paid. this isn't anything new. Marshall, just like Bolden, has shown he will focus and play football regardless if he isn't happy. Regardless if he isn't #1 and has to work his way back into the roster..

the character issues are bullshit in my opinion... and he's young!

Him and Smitty would kill each other. Actually… No. Smitty would kill BM. Either way, I'll pass.

and I'm pretty sure this is the furthest from the truth...

Quote:

Denver Post columnist Dave Krieger updated us last week on teams that could be interested in Marshall, listing the Buccaneers, Jaguars, Panthers, Redskins and Bears. Initially, some are more realistic than others. Following the trade for Donovan McNabb, the Redskins are without picks in the second and third rounds. The Panthers are without a first-round pick, the Jaguars have no second-round pick, and the Bears have no picks in the first two rounds. The Bucs are in the best position, with two second-round picks.

in other words........he ain't sure.

Yeah alot of times stuff like this "LEAKS" out so his value stays high. The fewer teams involved the lower his value is. I seriously doubt any of those teams want him.

JMO.

Go Panthers

Please ask yourselves, why would denver get rid of a great wide receiver like that if he has just a few character issues? I mean Carolina has kept Steve Smith. Why wouldn't Denver just pay Marshall? Because that dude is a ticking time bomb. He is super talented and would be a huge upgrade, but the opposite of that is that he could get his money and do something really really Plaxico Buress level stupid. I say get Gilliyard and call it a day.

Marshall came out once this past off season and said he wanted to get paid. He earned it.

and somehow he is a ticking time bomb? please, bring something more conclusive than crazy speculation about a player and his only issue has ever been 1 time wanting to get paid after earning it...

He came and played for Denver.. not even as a #1.. he had to earn his way back onto the field. He manned up and did just that.

Just because he and McDaniels don't see eye to eye doesn't mean BM is T.O...

Sorry, just don't buy it.. Bolden has done nothing different than Marshall.. Bolden is the good guy and Marshall is T.O....? update me if I'm missing something here...

Brandon Marshall's legal history makes Steve Smith looks like a saint.

I'd rather sign OJ.

Marshall has had anger issues.. granted the domestic violence doesn't look too good for him. funny how Steve Smith looks like a saint and the 2 only have 1 thing in common.. they both have hit someone.

yeah, bring on OJ.. good one.. lol

Maybe we can put in a clause that states if he kills someone we get compensation back from his contract...
