yeah, XL didn't do anything actually week 2 like the toe thing week 1. Dave can't scheme him up a play. Those go horrible (like the handoff or the screen that wasn't really even a screen). Nothing was there. as for the rest, XL just isn't a good enough WR for his route running to shake himself open on some predictable routes. Most targets to him were off target or thrown to be contested balls. I will say this, XL does not play to his size though when a ball is up in the air. He doesn't seem to actually have any sort of advantage for a contested 50/50 ball. That's really a skill set more than size thing. Some dudes just go up great. -
I have a blue peppers too. Also have a black smitty and white Stewart. Haven’t worn them in years. -
I watched a breakdown on XL recently, maybe it was here, but I’m less critical of him afterwards. He showed every touch he had against AZ, and most of them were doomed from the start. And I know it seems easy and convenient, but I think it all starts and ends with Bryce. Until we have someone who is a threat to throw the ball downfield, guys are gonna keep loading up the box and being super aggressive blitzing and closing out on tackles because they have no consequence for NOT doing so. And then a lot of the targets he got against AZ weren’t even on target. Much like with those jump balls Bryce threw to Renfrow, just because you get your hands on it doesn’t mean it’s catchable ball.
