Very likely. But, years of Heels and Panthers fandom has taught me to hope for the best while fully expecting the worst so..

I wish yall the best.  Any respect that can be brought to the ACC is welcomed.

I'm stunned. This is the type of stuff we usually mock state fans for. Expecting to hire some massive name like Bill Cowherd or something. Bill fuging Belichick is coming to Chapel Hill... you have got to be fuging kidding me. This is fuging WILD.

NIL and the transfer portal brings a new paradigm.  Name recognition bears more weight than traditional recruiting chops.  This kind of has Charlie Weis to Notre Dame vibes on it for me, but I understand why they're doing it.

Money, playing time, winning, being happy.  Shuffle the order a little based on each kid.  I don't think most kids give a rip how well known the HC is.

I just don't see Bill being born again.  I think he runs a miserable program where they will try to win ugly.  A less fun Harbaugh/Michigan type situation is what kids would be walking into....but in the ACC.

Players will transfer to play for BB just like they transferred to play for Sanders last season.  Whether it works out is another thing entirely.  But there will be players interested in playing for UNC that previously would not have considered it.

true.  You might get a couple names in the door off of his name.  Can you keep highly paid kids at UNC given what that would actually looks like.  That's what I doubt.   Which IMO is why all his former players are laughing at the situation.   The environment Bill creates doesn't mesh with today's college football.

Only thing Bill got in common w/ the Deion situation is name recognition.  Sanders at least brings a lot of things that do jive w/ today's college football.  It's a fun reality TV show.

I have absolutely not the slightest clue how this will ultimately work out but holy fuging poo... WOW

I completely agree, but I think that's why they opted for more of a "celebrity" hire instead of someone actually qualified for the position.

Man just pick a side. One moment you're against this hiring. Next moment you're excited for this hire.

If you scared go to church!

It's almost like reasonably intelligent people understand that the world is completely black and white. You'd think that looking like a moron constantly would teach you that. Remember when you do w off the CU bandwagon when they lost to Nebraska week one?

well, Tom Brady did actually use the word frightening to describe Bill in college football.  His context and usage was obviously different.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
