After this week, our schedule has some teams that are underperforming/with big question marks.

Raiders, Bengals, Bears, Falcons & Commanders.  If we lose through that and he's 2-21 on his career, and we're 0-7, it could very well be the lowest this franchise has ever been.

Every one of those teams will pummel us...

Panthers should have just pulled the no brainer move that fell into their laps.

Drafted Justin Fields at 8.  Kept CMC . Kept DJ Moore.  Kept their draft picks.  NFL is way too hard to think you are the smartest guy and the room and can trade away everyone and everything for a dude.

yeah, we might not of solved the puzzle doing that….but it would have been a more fun ride and more enjoyable team to watch.  And probably not the worst in all of pro sports

Bro Justin fields sucks. He may be a worse passer than Bryce. The no brainer was not passing on Justin Herbert.

That Horn draft screwed the pooch. Think it was pick 9 though. Heck, I would’ve been thrilled with Slater or Devonta that draft (those were my faves at the time) or possibly Parsons.

It yeah if Field, we could’ve already realized to move on from him by now and landed a guy in this past draft.

Ok. But that’s not a rebuttal of the point.  Still better than Young….and you keep CMC, DJ Moore and a bunch of draft picks.

and the team would have been more fun to watch on top of that.

and if Fields sucked here (not Bryce suck mind you)….you draft again.  But you still have all your studs and draft picks.

That was the birth of the Seattle fixation IMO.

Of all the things we could and should have done you choose draft Justin Fields

The moral of it boils down to don't mortgage your future on a crapshoot. One pick will not kill you.

Not seeing a path to success in those moves, TBH.

I don't think it would have been a very fun team to watch either. It wasn't much fun to watch CMC and Moore rack up stats while losing 10+ games a year. It was false hope.

The root of all of this is the ownership. A capable and knowledgeable owner wouldn't have constant FO and coaching turnover that leads to what he saw.

Yeah, because it’s not so much about Fields.  It’s about not being stupid and thinking you are a genius that can out think the random lottery that is the draft with crazy and dumb moves.

so you if you need a young QB you draft one where you can….and you then get to keep CMC, DJ Moore and a bunch of draft picks that help make your team better.  So when Fields isn’t what you wanted him to be….you are in a much better place than we are today.

* it’s not actually about Fields.

    • Yep. I was hoping for and calling for a day three guy. But I didn’t research the position to say if we should or should‘t have jumped at a particular guy at a particular spot.    And everything I read said it was a poor draft for RBs depth wise. I guess when Seattle takes a backup RB in the 1st, that kind of backs that up.    I definitely think we should keep 4 running backs and if King can play well enough then keep him too.    I believe I heard Canales say we are a running team (talking about drafting a WR he will be needing to block as well as catch). Well if we are gonna be a running team by identity we don’t need to stock the WR room to overflowing. If one room has to sacrifice, it should not be the RB room given our circumstances.
    • If there's a pattern I'm definitely picking up from Dan and company is a philosophy of making trades where we try not to sacrifice the number of draft picks we have by day's end. In other words, we're not giving up three picks for one, or giving up a future pick to make a pick today. And even if we give up something at the start, we make trades later to make up for that initial loss. Here's how it stacked up for 2026: How we started: 19, 51, 83, 119, 158, 159, 200 How we ended: 19, 49, 83, 129, 144, 151, 227 (no future picks sacrificed) Ultimately, we moved up two spots in the second to ensure we got someone we coveted, gave up a few spots for our fourth round pick, but then had better picks in the 5th (and got really good value out of them), and had a worse 7th rounder which isn't that big of a loss anyways.  At this point, we can question who they draft, but they're pretty good maneuvering across the draft board.
    • I just saw the funniest thing...or very disappointing, depending how you handle misery. A guy on YouTube did a 2027 'way too early' mock draft.  If I told you the simulator has the Panthers selecting in the top 10 , what would you say?  If I told you it was pick #8 and only two QBs were taken in the top 7, what would you say?  If I told you this dude had us taking a defensive player, what would you say?
