Brees and Payton template for Young

I know most fans dislike the Saints and Payton, but he figured out Brees. He somehow developed throwing lanes for the short QB.

Brees isn't much taller than young and doesn't have a cannon for an arm. Would it not be worth a shot to see what they did and how it works.

A strong Oline and running backs/WR's to compliment the QB (which they are working towards).

I propose that Canales see how Payton built the offense and developed throwing lanes for the short QB. Developed into a HOF QB by giving Brees a line of sight to see the entire field.

I know the hatred for the Saints/Payton, but he did something right to make Brees a great QB.

Just now, Jmac said:

So kick a 1st rnd pick to the curb instead of seeing what has worked with other QB's with his stature and arm strength......yes, this poo again

Bryce does not have Brees' build or early-career arm and sure doesn't have his mental game of competitive fire at this point. Unless he turns something around within himself, Bryce seemingly has no redeeming qualities at this point that are worth trying to build around. Dude seems Charmin soft.

I agree that he has little drive and has stunk up the field so far. Unless they try something else, it will be a failed project.

He will be in again at some point. Isn't it prudent to see what other options exist to have him see the field.

Salvage something out of the guy, otherwise get rid of him for whatever they can get.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
