Expect the unexpected...

Or should I say, the expected?

The Panthers have made a Day One (Rnds 1-3) move in each of the last 7 drafts... I'm not a betting man, but if I were, it looks pretty much like a slam dunk that we can expect early activity this weekend...

You have been warned... :D

Wouldnt that make this "Expect the expected"?

So Nance thinks we'll trade for Big Ben.

Hmmmmm....

lol

Not a chance in hell...

However, trading back into round 1 of a loaded draft, mortgaging away future selections that Hurney and Fox might not even be around to make? Webster's Dictionary lists that as the definition of "no-brainer"... At least as far as they are concerned...

I have no idea what to expect coming out of college next year, but I wouldn't mind seeing us trading next years first again for a 2nd and a 4th or two thirds. This would really depend on who is available for us to take. If we can get a great pick in the third I don't mind our picks this year.

the thing that has been difficult for me in participating in mocks is that i know that the panthers first pick won't be #48 and that their first pick will come a good bit earlier.

trading next years first isn't all that big of a deal because there is always first round talent that falls through the cracks into the second and with that pick we can usually get another pick in as well.

i easily see us turning next years first into a late first and 4th rounder or a early second and a 3rd rounder like last year. the more picks the better.

panthers have to win now...again...so it's pretty safe to assume they are going to be doing something like this.

the only thing that would shock me is if they didn't trade up or trade at all.

yeah, i completely agree with this. especially that last bit about being shocked if they don't trade at all. they build through the draft, which means they have to acquire more picks, and they don't care too much for 1st round picks because of the money involved. so i'm almost apt to believe that our 1st rounder from next year's draft is already gone. i'm really hoping for another high 2nd rounder in this year's draft so we can land a decent DT and a WR in the 2nd. then LB in the 3rd, and OL in the 4th... and BPA in rounds 6 & 7

I respectfully disagree..... I hope The Big cat does not let us trade next year’s first again. At some point in time you have to stop and deal with it... with this draft being deep. This is the year to stay put!! Since the draft is deep there is no need to move up into the first when we can get plenty value in the Middle rounds this year!!!

Also as I have said before... Moore is still a question mark. This will be his first full season in control. I believe that he will succeed, but if he fails we will need that first next year to draft a franchise QB... also more than likely fox will be gone if he fails and the new coaching staff will want the top-10 first round pick to start the new direction of the team!!!

We have to look at the big picture and not get caught up with who we want now!!!

I think we'll move up in the second, but not into the first.

I just don't understand... If the draft is so deep for the positions we need why would we give up picks to move up? It seems we would move up if the draft wasn't deep and we couldn't get value at our pick, which is not the case this year.

    • Wow. Florida two years in a row heading to the ECF. Great goalie play in Bob and scoring.  We had a better team but were worse in goal.  We owned them in the regular season. Just shows what elite goalie play looks like.     bob vs Igor.  At what point does rod just roll with Koochie.  This is our future being fuged over by stubborn rod.
    • I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Cousins' Achilles rehab isn't going great because the Penix pick honestly felt like a panic move. But then again, the Packers have probably had the best QB play in the NFL over the past 30 years with Favre and then Rodgers and now Love showed great promise last year. They didn't need a QB when they drafted both Rodgers and Love and both guys sat for multiple years. The strategy has been working. Maybe the Falcons are trying to recreate that?
    • First off...you missed the point of what I said. All I said was the offense could be setup to not have to rely on bryce in the same manner as other qbs if its working. And Yes the rest aren't proven commodities but NEITHER is bryce so I don't understand what you are getting at there. Lastly what is with this questioning of if bryce is liked? Liked how? Personal or football? See thats the problem with fans like you, you are so invested in a individual you respond to any critsicm with "do you like him". My opinion on bryce is strictly football....I DONT KNOW BRYCE PERSONALLY so I don't have anything against him in that regard. Far as football I said from the start I didn't see him as a top nfl Qb and he hasn't shown me anything so far to say I was wrong so based off your question...no. Just like everybody else on here, it's strictly football. Asking if he is liked in that regard, it's clearly no. He hasn't shown enough to be liked on the field.
