One huge problem w/ the QB situation

CRA

True but you see Fox giving him full rein in his first year? He will have to earn Fox's trust before he will let him throw freely.

Don't see it. But with that said, I would be willing to bet that Claussen will have an easier time earning Fox's trust than...say, Stefan Lefors.

Steve Beuerlein. Notre Dame and Panther QB. That was his opinion after meeting him multiple times and two thirds of the way through his college career.

Later, Steve said during is junior year he appaered to be a different guy....but that was a small window of his college career....kid is still needs work and that is why he fell.

that fits a little bit of what I read elsewhere.. his sophomore season is where most of these rumors derived from.. through his career he's grown into the role.. we'll see how it transitions..

They will be ok. Matt Moore is the vet. He has the demeanor that Clausen needs to elarn from & has been an understudy himself for years.

I laughed at the analysts (trent dilfer...putz) saying Clausen has the right attitude for QB in the NFL. Wrong. As of now he is not a team leader, but I have faith he will learn. Moore is a great teammate for Clausen to observe. You gain respect from how you conduct yourself, but also from proving you can lead a team when it counts.

IMO, this needing a vet talk is misguided. Just b/c Moore hasn't been a FT starter doesn't mean he isn't a vet.

If were worried about Clausen not knowing how to be a leader. And we know that Moore has the team. What does Moore miss that wouldnt be allow him to teach Jimmy well?

Also if we say Delhomme was great at it, and Moore was under him for three years. Then Moore should be pretty prepared to pass it on. Shouldnt he?

seriously? I could post a thousand things.......from high school through his junior year.....that show it. Obviously it would be pointless b/c once he put on a Panther uniform some are choosing to act like this kid doesn't have some red flags. So the most talented QB in the draft was passed over by every NFL team (some mutliple times) before Carolina grabbed him b/c of a Bradford's agent spreading lies? LOL. Dude, all those were question marks way before the draft.

"When you're meeting a Notre Dame quarterback, you expect to walk away and say, 'Man, that guy is sharp. He's got it going on.' You can just sense something. Without getting into it, those are the things, the few times I've talked to him, I haven't come away thinking."

that quote was after two thirds of his college career was over....even if improvement is made....that is called a red flag and sign he needs attention at the postion that has nothing to do w/ the mechanics and play on the field.

Generally, when you quote someone you attribute the quote to them. That way people can make judgments based on the context of who's saying it.

For instance, if the person who said that was Charlie Weis, I would be pretty disturbed. If it was from that tool on the Boston College team who got in his face after being beaten, then I'm just gonna laugh about it.

Source?

Got any quotes from his Junior season? People change, they grow up and mature.

you asked for a quote. I gave you one from Steve Beurelein, a guy that would know more than you or I. A guy who has a lot of interaction with him. I already acknowledged what Steve said, year 1, 2, and 3 and noted he said there was a difference year 3. You gotta really show a lot to have a ND guy like Steve B call you out two thirds of the way through your college career at Notre Dame. That doesn't mean all the crap people have always been concerned about is no longer an issue....he dropped b/c of what guys like Steve have seen throughout his football career.

your just proving that no matter what I give you, even what you ask for.....you are just going to pretend his red flags that caused him to drop aren't there.

it actually has more to do with your quotes coming from years 1 and 2.. and other quotes saying the same thing in years 1 and 2, but pointing out he's more of a leader now than the #1 QB taken in the draft and that the concerns of the past are... concerns of the past.

1 guy was taken #1 overall. Another guy was taken #48. You say well- guy #48 fell because he can't lead a team. But executives are saying, he's a better leader than the #1 draft pick. It kind of kills your point since it sounds like that was a thing of the past and it looks more like these "issues" are more "smoke screens" than legit concerns...

it's not a conspiracy against you.. but that you are pointing out things of the past and there are conflicting reports to your point that those issues are no longer a thing of the present..

Who cares? Who did Matt Ryan have? Mark Sanchez? lets go as far back as the 99, Mcnabb didn't have a qb who threw over 100 passes in his career on his team and look who Peyton manning had as a veteran Qb to guide him. Fact you don't have to have a vet quarterback to lead the rookie.

You only know what was written about Clausen. You have no idea whether this kid willb e a leader. His team mates at ND really liked him as a QB. You are basing your opinion on what Mayock and Kiper have written....you do realize that they are wrong more than they are right. Don't you?

...and Mayock/Kiper are still big fans of Clausen and think the Panthers got an absolute steal.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
