he didn't get a lot better. His coverage was still horrible and his open field tackling was still horrible.

uh, no. godfrey tackles like a cornerback and covers like a linebacker. ya, he did well after coming back from the injury, but you people are acting like his recovery involved fairy dust being sprinkled on him. maybe he was just upping his play because he knew sherrod martin was biting at his heels to take his job. who is going to take his job if he's the starting strong safety? he has no motivation. i don't know why he got better, but i'd hardly bank on it sticking.

He's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but the fact is he did come back playing better and will only continue to improve. This is what you call "upside".
