ask me that question when i'm actually a fan of the team. for the next 30 mins i'm a fan of the bears 'cause they have a hell of a lot smarter front office than the panthers.

We all have our reasons. What's yours?

Legitimately?

Growing up, I watched football with my dad, who loved the NFL. He didn't have a "real" favorite team, he just pulled for certain people. (I asked him about it later on, and he said that he was waiting for a Charlotte team.)

So, I grew up watching football with my dad. And finally, when Carolina got a team, he went over to it, and started watching all of their games. Since he did, so did I.

I've been a fan ever since.

What a great thread to make my first post. Been hunting for a Panthers board to post on and as a Notre Dame fan since birth figured there was no better time than now to join one...

Anyway, I'm a fan because I was an 8 year old kid with no NFL team living in South Carolina when the Panthers were born (technically I liked San Fran but since I was 8, I wasn't really a 'fan'). Carolina instantly won me over and I've been following throughout the team's history.

I didn't follow the NFL at all until 1996. I knew Carolina had gotten the NFL franchise and of course heard things about the team. When they begin to hit the hot streak at the end of that season the hype surrounding the team got my attention. The first NFL game I watched with real interest was the San Fran game. I finished watching the rest of the season and by the time they lost to Green Bay I was already so attached it felt heart breaking. For me, there wasn't a NFL until the Panthers arrived.

    • D.Brown has almost single handedly solved the run defense problem.  He’s that friggin good.  So glad to have him back.
    • The way your fan brain thinks isn’t the way an NFL coaches brain thinks.. It’s not Madden. I get that some fans want to see BY sling the ball around in a blowout, but the HC job is to call plays to win the game in a responsible manner. What coach would stop running the ball when they are having consistent success only to pass the ball when you already have a large lead? Who would take Canales seriously in the locker room? Who would take him seriously around the league if he did that? The coaching staff get to see BY at practice everyday and have 2 years of tape. It’s week 3. There’s still a lot of more ball to be played. Enjoy the ride.
    • Wow … App grad here. That’s tough news. His time on the mountain wasn’t glorious, but he left it all out there during his tenure. RIP Coach Clark
