Warren Sapp defends Matt Moore

Read the statement again...and let me point out your obvious lack of reading skills.....

However, I'm personally tired of solid, "game-managing" QB's. That's what Moore is to me, a game manager, another Jake Delhomme (in his younger days). That's what turns me off, because we don't have the defense at the moment to play that style of offense anymore. We don't have the type of defense where you can just try to grind clock on O, turn it over to the D and win close games. We need dynamic players at ALL the skill positions, including QB. We need to score points, and a lot of them...that's how we will have to win games. To win Super Bowls now, you need a franchise QB. Ravens (Dilfer), Colts (Manning), Patriots (Brady), Giants (Manning), Steelers (Roethlisberger), Saints (Brees), Bucs (Johnson), and the Rams (Warner) were the Super Bowl Champions over the past decade....how many won with a game manager at QB? Only 2, and both had top 3 defenses behind em.

Can you name the two now? Obviously Dilfer and Johnson were NOT franchise QB's, nor did I say that they were.....next time, read the whole statement before you comment.

I get it. If we take what you wrote...twist it a little....turn it upside down....infer a bunch...

Your post inferred that the list of QB's were franchise QB's....move on.

Out of all the potential starters Jarrett intrigues me most. He is going to surprise some people this year.

Jarrett is like the abusive boyfriend a chick keeps going back to.....and he keeps giving her "the business" every time.

I feel you....I still have faith in Jarrett. He has imo been in a position to fail w/ horrible QB play, 2 vets in front of him, and an offense that doesn't like 3 WRs.

I really don't see why. Who exactly has any experience behind him? It would be cutting the one guy outside of Smith with any really.

Moore, LaFells, Edwards will ALL make the team over him.

Rumor has it that he might not even make it TO Training Camp.

I would like to see if he can finally figure it out with a decent QB throwing to him. However, I think it might be a little too late for him.

I said that we needed a franchise QB, then put a list of all the QB's that won a Super Bowl the past ten years...the next line said that only 2 were not franchise QB's.....how can that possibly be twisted....if you look at the list it was obvious who was not the franchise QB's (as seen by everyone going OMG Dilfer wasn't a franchise QB), so the point was that the 2 that did had dominant defenses. I just don't see how that could've been twisted.

I think a better analogy is a GF you have that you keep around because you can't seem to do better then.

There really should be no reason to cut him. He has talent, is cheap, and have next to nothing behind him (Lafell could be just as much a waste of space). I agree if after this with being given the wide open chance to start and a good QB he still can't make it then I will condemn him but the fat lady hasn't sang yet.

It's a discussion about my favorite team...a question was asked and I said what I thought... I'm entitled to my opinion and you're entitled to yours...not really trying to get into side arguments about other stuff. Not trying to slam anyone on here, so I'll just step to the side on that and let it go.

and this is why the pick of CLausen seems 100% pointless. We should have just grabbed golden tate w. that pick and then we would still be adding qb depth w. Pike...We should also sign Mark Bulger for the league minimum to be a veteran presence for all these young QB's we have

Sapp was on it. Whenever anyone defends Moore in the media about his consistent play, everyone else chuckles and shrugs their shoulders b/c 1. they did not watch a pass from him...and 2. They just assume Matt Moore could not unseat Delhomme and Coach Fox knows better..

In the draft I thought the scenario that Pant4life stated would be what we would do before the draft. I think all of us appreciate competition in training camp but Matt has done nothing but exceed expectations when he has played. I think the public, media and heck coaches apathy for Moore is because of his undrafted-west-coast player background.

Clausen and Pike were both Heisman candidate players and there has been more love on this board for Weinke and a lesser Delhomme than Moore! I wonder what our draft board would have looked like if Clausen was drafted by someone else. I think Lafell and Pike would have been our 2-3rd round picks. Any love for playmakers like Tate will go for not. Typical.

This is the most ridiculous statement I have heard. College football and NFL are completely different and Clausen hasn't played in the NFL, so you have no basis behind this. This is the kinda poo that Rod Woodson would say lol

just watch training camp and preseason and it will seem less ridiculous and woodson can say whatever he wants since he is in hof and the best db to ever play IMO

I really like Matt Moore but he's in trouble. One major difference is the word of this decade "SWAGGER". This is why if Clausen can back it up like he's been talkin' it he could win the job. He would have to be the second coming of Broadway Joe to do it, but I've heard he may be pretty good. What makes it even worse is now the kid has a chip on his shoulder and an ax to grind because of his dropping to the second round. Some people have that killer instinct. That ON switch that makes them decide to take over in a game. Steve Smith has it, and it takes one to know one. He supposedly got #2 because of said chip and this could be trouble for Matt and the whole NFL.

We shall see...
