Went to "Panthers in the Park..."

Recommended Posts

Not a bad set-up, they had everything that was advertised plus $2 lemonade. A friend and I went, hoping to see if Clausen was there, or Stewart or Munnerlyn.

Turns out no rookies were able to go due to NFL rules, and both Stewart and Munnerlyn were there, along with Gross, Jarrett, Kalil, Kenny Moore, Rosario, Kasay, Schwartz, Cantwell, Bernadeau, Otah, Thomas Davis, Everette Brown, Hayden, Gamble, and a few other defensive standouts. Not over 30 players though.

We picked a line to wait in for a few minutes, and when the players came out, Stewart was slated for our line. I had an '08 NFC South title shirt I brought, and when I gave it to Stewart I asked him to make it out to me in my name. He asked my name politely, then added an extra "r", asked if that was right, I said there's only one "r," so he fixed it, wrote an arrow below it, inscribed "oopps!" (yes he misspelled that as well,) we laughed about it and News 14 Carolina got a shot of the both of us and the misspelled shirt.

One hell of a memory for sure.

I got back from ATL around 7 and got to get a few autographs from the Defense, before it ended. Mainly, TD, Everette Brown, and Chris Gamble. I caught Sherrod Martin before he got on the bus/van and told him that I thought he would be the leader in Interceptions this year. He said "What's your name?...I'll remember that."

def. was a good time...grabbed a couple extra stewart autos and told him i enjoyed watching his U-Stream...he had a good laugh about that.

was also able to get Kasay to sign a 8x10 of him and baker (that baker had already signed)

fun times....i really love how active the panther organization is with their fans!!!

Yeah, it was fun for sure. We were gonna stand in line for Munnerlyn and Brown but considering how we were 4th and 5th in line for Stewart, being about 200th and standing in the sun wasn't very appealing.

I do want to point out that JJ Jansen hung out with kids there and tossed around with them for at least 20 minutes, just hanging out. Jarrett was also particularly approachable. Charlie Dayton and Mike Craft were also there but not in team clothes.

I was there too. Kasay signed my super bowl 38 helmet and I had the rest of the team sign my football. Jeff Schwartz saw my super bowl helmet and told me "we're going to get you a new one to add to your collection". Im gonna hold that to him now. LOL

    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
    • It is goofy how some people hate Bryce so much that they're flat out lying to try and remain entitled to their pessimism. It's insanity. Most fans are realists and eagerly awaiting the season to see if we get pre- or post-benching Bryce to start the season and how much he is able to do with some young and developing weapons. Many of us understand that these young guys are going to have growing pains on the job as well as the new defense, but the fans with all of the excuses for why Bryce can't be successful are pounding the no excuses drum. Personally, I'd prefer the Keep Pounding drum.
    • Just like we overpaid for Wharton.
