Could the huddle collectively write better articles than national writers???

Reminds me of some threads on a different forum where we had a continuing story where all the members posted 100-300 word responses and continued the story as it went on. Funny stuff.

If it's about the Panthers there are a few people on here who could write competent articles, but then again, if Pete Prisco still has a job... I mean I'm sure at least 90% of us could do a better job.

I think that some of the discussion on here is well advanced compared to the type of articles most publications produce. Part of that is because most articles rarely touch more than the surface only recapping general themes and commonly known information. Most folks don't want to know more.

People on a message board are self-selected and drawn to the specifc area of interest enough to post regularly. It stands to reason we would have more imformation than most. I can't see a bunch of us being able to agree on anything though. I do like the idea of a writer's forum where people can submit original articles for discussion. I am sure we have a couple of masochists out there.

I like the articles that speak to formations, strategies, and philosophies. Way too boring and esoteric for most folks.

Boobs are good. There.

Fiz would do it, as well as Mr. Scot.

Also, Mr. Scot makes some great posts, but I've never seen any that are really in "article form." They would need to be rewritten and rearranged to be acceptable as an article, in my opinion. I actually prefer the way he does it now, so it's not like I'm trying to diss him.

Mr. Scot is hands down the best writer here for this sort of thing.

Ray, Fiz, and SLJ could also contribute effectively, but Fiz's writing style is hardly appropriate for anything outside the Huddle imo.

Writing for a deadline and cause your sposed to is tough. I don't think I would have a problem out writing some of the guys but when the daily grind gets into mile 17 of the marathon, that's where the rubber meets the road.

To stay fresh, relevant, objective and funny yet informative takes a special skill.

What's odd is how little some sports writers are of the very sports they cover. The righting storytelling is the bigger rush.

This wouldn't be the huddle trying to write an article by committee mind you. This would be somebody writing an article then submitting it for a peer review. Then making any appropriate changes they see fit. The one person would still have a final say on what to put in their article.

Many times I find the opinions and thoughts of our members to be far superior to anything in the media, in fact, we have conducted experiments proving we are were many local media types get their info to begin with. :)

"What if somebody were to write up an article, then put it up here to let people read over it and suggest changes."

That is kind of what goes on as it is. Post a comment, and then see the replies. Some good stuff does go on. True, some petty stuff does as well, but overall, the info provided here is just as good and valid as any other source.

Any way of taking the concept mentioned and e-mailing such 'articles' to entities like ESPN, sports dept of the local paper, etc.?
