Thomas Davis should not be placed on IR

Recommended Posts

From the time TD was injured last year, it took him about 6 months to return to action. If we plug that time frame in here, but spare him some time to make sure he isn't too vulnerable, we could see him back by late December. That means that he will likely be near or at 100% by playoff time.

But the question is; should we take that chance?

Actually, they can put him on the pup list, which keeps him from counting against the roster until week 9 of the regular season. They would have a good idea how well he would be coming along, to make a decision at that time to add him to the roster, or put him on ir.

With davis being a fast healer, there is no reason to ir him now.

I don't know why we would risk bringing him back for the playoffs. At that point we have to be playing pretty well to make it to the playoffs to begin with. No need bringing in someone who has not played all year in favor a guy who had been doing it all along. I would keep the chemistry going and let Davis wait until the offseason. I like the PUP until week nine idea for now.

He is a star player. I think any team would do what they can to avoid putting him on ir. I agree with not messing up the chemisty of the defense if its playing well. Still, to get him back healthy, would be another quality lb that can step in and play should we lose another lb.

as already stated...what would be the purpose of having davis back so late in the season?

he would have been out of the loop for roughly a season and a half. i don't care how good he may be, the defense should have developed cohension by then...reintroducing a rusty player back into the fold may screw things up.

i for one am not on the "omg davis is hurt the season is over" train.

davis's success is the product of meeks's system...his position is almost plug and play. plug in a half way competent player now, and he could be having a davis like 2009 by the time davis is ready to get back on the field.

I'm not of the group that is freaking out over davis being gone.

But to mislabel davis as a system lb, you might as well admit to wearing blinders.

Any team would want to get a player of davis ability and leadership back.

To write him off at a positive that is the most injured on defense, is shortsighted at best.
